Overall Rank = 12/32
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 2/2
Pre-race routine:

First time using new Tri bag and it was fantastic. A great way to carry all of the gear I needed. Did some stretching and mentally prepared for the race. Almost forgot to attach my timing chip. Went all the way to the pool to start and then luckily realized it was missing. That was the only real hiccup.
Swim
  • 02m 30s
  • 150 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

Really Short Swim, but was really comfortable. Only used Garmin Time for swim, after pool you needed to run through the school hallways which was a little slick.
Transition 1
  • 02m 39s
Comments:

Good Transition for me, first time I have done T1 without putting on socks. Took a little extra time to dry off since it was a little chilly out. Probably did not need to, but better safe than sorry.

Bike
  • 36m 38s
  • 10 miles
  • 16.38 mile/hr
Comments:

For the amount of training I was pretty happy with bike. Would have liked to have been faster, but who doesn't?
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

I had some trouble in T2 putting on socks and shoes. Ended up needing to sit down, was afraid I was going to cramp.
What would you do differently?:

Need more practice putting socks and shoes on.
Run
  • 20m 11s
  • 2 miles
  • 10m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

Always my weakest leg, I was just glad to finish. With my back and leg bothering me, and almost no run training I was happy with this.
What would you do differently?:

Post race
Event comments:

Overall this was a fun little race and a good warm up to the year. I wanted to use this race to motivate me to train more and I do think it has helped light the fire.

Nice work, Eric!  Congrats on not slipping on the run down the hallway, man that sounds sketchy!  Good start to the season.

Slippery school hallways sounds dicey. Nice job staying upright.

Sounds like you had a great race. Now, as Salty said, go run

A tip for the socks - put them on before the race, then roll them off so you end up with two socks that are rolled down that you can slip in your shoes. Makes them super quick to put on.

I'm doing the 22 week sprint tri program and the 2 mile bike ride it starts with is not very challenging. I see this as a opportunity to train the right way and challenge myself. Any ideas?

My right knee has a pain in the front, just below the kneecap. I walked 24 miles of IM Louisville. No pain while walking but it started immediately when trying to run.

This past spring I realized a few of us were heading in the wrong direction physically. We were getting together for poker games and kids’ birthdays, but that was it.

So here I was, a hard-working, respectable, just-turned-forty-six-year-old, who never considered herself athletic, lining up in my swim cap and goggles for my first triathlon.

I couldn't believe that my splits kept getting lower! I started to run harder after I passed the "5 km" sign and picked a few people that I wanted to pass.
