Subject: quick core exercise question
Was at the gym last night and saw someone do a core workout that I hadn't seen before, and it looked interesting, though I'm not sure how effective it is...so, I was wondering what you thought of it.

The person was on on their hands and feet, with their chest facing the ceiling...I guess that's a probably called a bridge. The person then lifted their left knee toward their chest and at the same time, their right arm came up, and the knee and elbow touched. It was a crunch of sorts bringing together opposite leg and and arm, while balancing on the other leg and arm. It looked interesting, but is it effective?

Just wondering.

Thanks.

Sounds like it might be effective for someone who could do it. I think I would just fall over a couple times and then give up on it.

Effective for what? In most cases, no, but in any event, most people do not have the mobility to do that safely anyway.

Yep. Watch a yoga class sometime, lots of exercises I can't do.

So what is the best way to lose weight quickly? Do you simply "starve yourself” by eating as little as possible? The answer depends on your long-term goals.

A strong core will allow you to keep optimal body alignment for whatever you’re doing (swim, bike or run), and this in turn will reduce your fatigue in the long run.
