I know it's way late in the game, but in case any of the regulars are out there and want to play. I'm doing an "oly" tomorrow. Here are the distances (as best as I can estimate from the course):

Swim: 1,300m
Bike: 26 miles
Run: 5.8 miles

I rode the course twice around last week and it is super fast. I was able to maintain and average of 22 mph with 177 watts. Unlike last race, I'm not planning anything; I'm just going to just race like hell...no pacing, just go. Thinking there is a high likelyhood of blowing up, but I'm ok with that.

Sure, I'll play - 2:09:15.

If you don't blow up on the bike, I bet you can go sub 42 on the run.

I'm going with 39:15 -- swim canceled due to water quality, bike canceled due to lightning, warm and humid morning puts you sub-40 for a 10k but not too much

In all honesty, hope the weather doesn't suck and you get to race (and I get to ride)!

I'll be "that guy" and guess 2:19:00 because you blow up and run 48+.  Someone's got to do it right.

2:04...might get close to 2:00 depending on how the legs feel for that 2nd run.

Water quality?  Hope the weather turns around soon....I'm sure people aren't thrilled with races getting changed or canceled at the last minute (I would HATE a duathlon, though I'm sure some people don't mind the swim leg getting canceled).

Good race!  Bike data??

Thanks. Averaged 211 watts for 23.4 mph. I changed to 25mm tires and put my aero bars a bit closer together and it seems to have made quite a difference. It was pretty windy out there.Got a 40k PR at 1:02:58

Hell yeah! Nice work! How'd you like the go like hell pacing strategy?

I liked it. Barely looked at my watch the whole time. I feel like I could have put some more watts on the bike, but with the extra running, it was a long day for the legs.

Nice race! I was guessing you'd run between 6:30-6:40 average...so fairly close. I missed on the bike. I thought you'd run about 22mph...you blew my estimate out of the water!

Nice work for sure! Curious what your old tires were and what you replaced them with?

Both were Conti 4000's but the old one's were 23mm and were well past their usable life. The threading was starting to come out along the sidewalls. I put Conti 4000's again, but did 25mm and used latex tubes. I swear I could feel a huge difference the first time I took them out.

You and me both. I was surprised by the bike myself.

Well done!  Based on the chart from this thread How Aero Are You?, your data puts you roughly between the Good and the Better, and that is without factoring any braking for corners.

I just started doing tris this summer and I have two under my belt, both sprints. Is it reasonable to build up for a Oly in early ‘09, with a HIM in Oct of ‘09

A Navy Seals program modified specifically for triathletes. Heavy on the running, swimming, push/pull-ups and sit-ups, will you find yourself man (or woman) enough to finish?
