Still a mix of fairway, cart path, and resort road I assume.  And I guess it will still be hot.

I'd love to go back again.  This was one of my favorite races.

Did you rent a bike for this race or pack yours along?

Brought my bike.  I always thought it would be tough to get dialed in on an unfamiliar bike the weekend of a race.  I have a friend that lets me use her bike case so its not too bad to bring it along.

I bring my bike as well, but live on Oahu.

Bike Works does have rental bikes tho.

I agree that your own bike would be better.  I'm just not sure that I'd want to deal with the hassle of shipping my bike over for the race.  I've always been interested in this HIM, but it seems like there is always some conflict or another during the summers.  Maybe I'll just have to wait for the kids to be gone to college to finally pull this one off.

I'll be arriving on Friday. Looking forward to some time on the Island with the family. I'm traveling with my bike, hoping it makes it there safely.

How was everyone's races? What did you think of S/B/R courses ?

Was amazingly great conditions on the swim and bike. Low temps, light winds made the swim and bike fast !

Can't say the same on the run though...very steamy and hot. The no wind conditions made it really tough.

The new run course seemed a bit more difficult than the old course, with 2 trips to the infamous "road to nowhere".

I also really enjoyed the swim and bike courses. We had a huge manta ray go below us on the last leg of the swim headed back to the beach. Gorgeous swim.

I was a bit slower on the bike than I had hoped as I dropped my chain off my rear derailleur twice (I think the adjustment got bumped on the flight over, but didn't have any problems during my test ride the day before).

The run course was less than stellar. It was hot and humid. There seemed to be more running on the golf course grass than the previous one loop course (I think they quoted 5 miles total of grass)...and it was hot. I had planned for the heat and humidity but the grass sucked any remaining life from my legs. I hope they go back to the original one loop course.

Still contemplating going back next year vs another location. Kinda hard to beat the scenery of Hawai'i though.

Nice on the Manta Ray. My friend saw one on the practice swim Friday....

Yep the run was brutally hot, although the bike was probably the best weather I've had with Honu.

Hard to beat Big Island for a race, but can be really challenging with the heat and winds !
