I know that Hennepin County has regulations regarding swimming outside swim areas but what about other counties like Wright or Carver? Any help would be appreciated since I tried to do a google search and couldn't find much of anything

Come out to Square Lake in washington count.y. Swim early and we go anywhere we want. Swim within the buoys and you're regulated by the lifeguards so you have to periodically exit the water for a head count.

Personally I have never had a problem in Cedar Lake swimming outside the boundaries at Point Beach or at Bryant Lake in Eden Prairie. That being said, Minneapolis municipal code forbids swimming across a lake unless accompanied by a boat and a person must have permission. Eden Prairie also forbids swimming outside designated swim areas. Below are links to each cities municipal code on the subject. I would just Google search the city in questions municipal code and then keyword search by “swim”, “lake”, or “park” within each document and you should find what you need.

There used to be a group swim at Lake Nokomis on Tuesday nights. Not sure if that still happens but hopefully it will be back in 2016.

In Mpls, Cedar lake has a program this year where for a certain $ you can swim across the lake on some days/times. Similar at Lake Nokomis where I think there is a free day and a pay day...other than those 2 lakes though (which you need to look into further for details) I think you need to exit the area. Can't help you outside the county.

I got about a minute into it and, despite bracing myself against it for months, I panicked. I could not get my breath. I said, "I can't do this, I can't do this."

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

The triathletes really inspired me. I watched them in awe as childlike thoughts went through my head like, "I want to do that!" But then reality set in. “Who are you kidding?
