Subject: New Road Bike
I am thinking this year is time for a new bike. I currently have a 2007 Trek 1500 and 2012 Cannondale Slice. I am looking at a road bike, in the $1500 dollar range. I am not sold on any ceratain brand name. So far I have just looked on the web at the Cannondale site. Oh mostly semi rough roads and paved paths. No road bike races or top of line needed.

Don't get bogged down in the minutia of particular down-specs to meet the price point. Get out and ride a bunch of bikes and see which one(s) speak to you the most. Loads of selections in that range.

Wait a month and a half. The prices on the 2016 inventory get cut both during and after Le Tour. Or if you can find a steal now on a 2014/2015, you'll get more bang for your buck. Do you have any specific questions about components/frames? 1500.00 isn't a terrible price point, but you'll get a few more options if you go up to 2000. But I'd guess you're looking at 105's at that price point and if you go up to 2k you might even get a carbon frame if you find the right deal.

The triathlon bike vs. road bike quandary. Before you even ask the road bike vs. tri bike question, you should have a couple sprint triathlons or duathlons under your belt.
