Hi kids. I'll start us off today! I'm up in NYC traveling for about a week so I did a 3 mile run exploring the area around my hotel. Ran around a "lake" at a city park and watched a big game of cricket. By the way, if you're looking for a great inspirational sports movie check out "Eddie the eagle" which came out this year. I watched it on the plane and it was equally hilarious, touching, and inspiring. If you don't recognize the name it's the true story of the British guy who completed in the Calgary olympics in ski jumping even though he had very little idea of what he was doing. True underdog story!

Good morning! Have fun in NYC!Woke up to major winds this morning so I'm going to settle in for a treadmill run + lower body strength stuff. First official day of summer and crappy weather today! Oh well, I'll get a bunch of cleaning done which I've been needing to do. Have a good day all! Good luck racers!

Hope you get better weather soon, Kim. I spent my first day of vacation doing a 2:30 trainer ride (and had to do it early so I could send Rover for packing), running a ton of errands in oven temps (for some reason, it hasn't rained lately, which means it's super-hot), and doing last-minute packing.

Now at airport, ready to start one more round of "World's Longest Commute". Had to leave Rover for oversize bag pickup at the check-in area. Hope someone is taking care of him! Wish me luck--I have 1:55 to transit San Francisco! Wish running could help but it's all going to come down to whether or not we arrive on-time and the length of the immigration and security lines.

Had a awesome group ride with a great group of about 25 folks in beautiful Tehachapi, CA.

36 miles and 2000ft of elevation gain. It was a good workout, 10 PR's from the same route last year. My bike is getting stronger. Got a max speed of 42mph, could have gone much faster but was brake checking down the hill due to so many riders and keeping it safe. Avg speed over the entire ride was a respectable 17mph. On a 1988 Peugeot 12 speed mind you. Keeping it simple and inexpensive, and it makes you work harder and focus more on technique.

Thought about a run afterward, ate salad instead, lol

There were white caps on the lake today but I did my swim anyway. It felt like I was swimming in a wash machine.

Do we really need chia, spelt, and quinoa? Is anything wrong with old-fashioned peanut butter, broccoli and brown rice?

We have new 10 and 20 week training plans for the New Year! These mini sprint plans are very conservative and will get any person thinking of training for a triathlon ready to cross the finish-line.

Cotswold super sprint - UK. Lots of bodies colliding, I swam half over someone, got kicked by some bloody breaststroker, and as a mob we poured towards the first buoy.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.

Since I didn't have much time and since it's a super sprint, am I OK just go to at the training relatively hard through Thursday or even Friday?
