Tough call.  Your swim, bike, run numbers are looking good right now but I think the heat and hills will slow things down a little.  I think you'll have good numbers in the swim/bike portion.  The wild card will be the run in that heat with the punchy climb you have to do twice.  With that said, I'm going 4:59.

You added an extra minute in there, but I think this is pretty good. I'll spot him at least 4 more minutes on the swim though (wetsuit legal and all). I'm starting to think the hills are going to affect our bike time AND run time (from spiking power) more than we'd like to think they're going to.

4:53:01

And I think I'll be about the same. 29m swim, 2:30 bike, 1:50 run, 4m T1/T2. 4:53. In full disclosure, this is anticipating a blowup on the run from me.

Do you think our finish is going to look anything like this?

I'll go a side $20 that your swim (wetsuit or not) will not be as fast as B2B.

Ha, if that Starbucks card turns out to only have $1.50 then you're going to turn a profit on this!

Was the second current-assisted? The B2B current RIPS through there.

Congrats on your result. Great race!

What was the break down?

Your swim was much faster than I thought, I was going on the premise that B2B was point to point swim will a current and that this was not?

The swim was in a lake and it was a circle, so no current. I didn't think the current helped all that much last year at B2B. It was really choppy and I couldn't really get in rhythm and I think it negated the current assist. Also, the last couple months I've seen gains in the pool.

Here is the official breakdown. I had the swim a bit quicker but I hit my garmin right out f the water. I guess there was a small run to the timing mats. My swim was faster than I thought it would be too. I really didn't push it because all I was thinking about were the climbs coming on the bike. The run was much more challenging than I thought and I want much slower than I planned. It had to really steep 200' climbs that just punched you in the stomach but on top of that the rest was constant rollers that were steep enough that you couldn't get into any sort of rythm. All in all it was a good race. I needed to do a challenging one.

Great race Omar, congrats! With a result like yours I may have to mix up my pre-race meal to some chicken and pasta.

Many people in the triathlon world think they need to just emulate Ian Thorpe to have a faster time, or have a similar stroke to Michael Phelps to cruise through the swim. Unfortunately...
