Due to illness/surgery and other things I"ve not raced in 2 years. The sprint I'm doing tomorrow is the also the last race I did. Training has been spotty, and tomorrow will likely have its moments of doubt and misery. But, despite that, I'm doing this because I need to get back to this sport and start enjoying the journey and regain the confidence and fun that comes with it. This will be tri #30 for me as well, so its nice to get back to it on that number.

Went to packet pickup today, and that 'buzz' that comes with knowing its becoming real, and soon, was both fun and a bit nerve racking. Hope I can sleep tonight!

Make it a great day - Measure your success not by the time on the clock nor by your placing , but rather by the size of the smile on your face

Best wishes!

Done! Perfect weather and I finished and felt great about it. Water was cold - 60 degree ocean water- bike was fine, ran more than I thought and it felt good. My slowest sprint ever but I don't care. Issues I ran down the finishers chute I felt a big smile spread across my face, and that's the best prize of all. Big success today!!!!!!

Congrats.  I certainly know how hard it is to fight your way back into 'race' shape.  Keep Going!

For most people, there is a story in how they came to the sport as beginners. Some of the most inspiring of those beginner tales begin with health scares.

I have always been an athlete, growing up playing team sports like basketball and soccer. I also ran in a couple of 10K races every year, so I had no reason to worry about running a 5K...right?

I ponder my training. Should I have trained differently? Should I have trained more? Should I have trained harder? Should I not be wearing a sail?

Until last year an Ironman was just a dream. Now it has become a goal. I needed to start, but where?
