Good morning BT!

4:45am:  :45 min run--1 mile WU/6X400m repeats/cool down

5:30am:  Lower body strength

At 7am:  chasing CC kids

I am trying to get myself more on a training routine--I've kind of been doing 'whatever' since my last tri, I still have one more to do in August so really need to get back to the training mindset.

Have a great day BT!

Biggest day for me to date, any one of these workouts was "impossible" for me in January, I'm so glad I jumped into triathlon!

10:00 am
5.5 mile run

11:20
4300 yard swim (I was halfway through my planned workout when the masters coach talked me into swimming their workout with them, damn those guys/gals work hard!)

1:40
7 mile mountain bike ride

Today was a swim of 2,500 yards and then a 6 mile run. The heat was tough around mile 5 so the last mile was very slow.

I have three tough weeks left and then the taper. I am disappointed in my overall training but work just killed me this year.

Have a good week

Today was a pretty light day for me. I did my usual 2 minute plank (I'm at about 2 months without missing a day I think). This afternoon I hit the pool. I only did 1000 yards (10 x 100, every third one was either IM or breaststroke), but I was trying to concentrate on form and breathing. I also did flip turns on the far end of the pool; the shallow end had swim lessons going on, so no flips near the little kids.

Saturday is my first ever triathlon, so I am lightening up on the distances this week. Tomorrow at the course's water, they are supposed to have all the buoys in, so weather permitting I'll be there to see how sighting works like that. Last week they only had the turn around point buoy in, and sighting back to shore was a bit of a challenge for my blind eyes. Luckily I swim pretty straight. Unless my bearings are way off in that park (which they very well could be), the sun will be in a much better position at 8 in the morning than it is at 6 at night.

Have a great evening,

J White

Good luck in your race J White! The first is the most memorable!

Kim, do you have any races in mind?

I had a run/swim tonight with some speed mixed in. I beat the hot water by pouring ice water into my swim cap every couple hundred yards. It didn't work

My training has been somewhat messed up owing to bad weather for the past five days. I put off my long ride and OWS until today as it was finally nice and warm (for Oregon--low 70's, I think) and sunny again. So Monday was the new Sunday. Yesterday (Sunday) was the new Friday. Tuesday is the new Moday....and so on.

Anyway, 30 minute OWS in Cottage Grove Lake and 3:30 ride on Row River Trail. Attempting to attach pics.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

I have been able to swim 200-300 yards without stopping for the past couple of weeks, but this morning I couldn’t swim more than 50. Could not eating make a big differance?

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.

Once you caught your breath, it occurred to you that finishing even a short triathlon might be harder than you thought. After a few "laps" you thought, "I can't believe I'm so out of shape."
