Well, a used one. I had a few options on some used tri bikes. Wound up with one that's actually newer than my road bike. Still need to get fit...
But...Took it out for 3rd time ever on a tri bike. First time I ever spent more than 5 minutes on one.

Took a route I ride a lot. In high heat and humidity. Pretty noticeable headwinds at times. Purposefully did not try to hammer. Left my watch in my shirt pouch for some of the ride.

And went faster. Definitely faster.

I'll will gladly attribute some of it to exuberance. But not all.

Congrats! Yep, getting your body out of the wind via a tri bike is going to help you go faster. You'll go even faster when you optimize your fit...depending on how far off from optimal you are right now.

Yah I have no clue how close I am. I watched some vids and stuff...but it's night and day. I have zero point of reference. I know the pads and bars weren't quite right. But you move one thing...it changes 4 others. Kind of pointless to bother without a pro.

I'll work on getting a fit setup this week.

My first tri bike was built by me. But a cracked front derailleur hanger compromised the frame.
So I got a new Tri frame and swapped all the parts. I rode that bike for a few years until a crash. There were no marks or any damage on the bike.

I was ready to start riding again after some months. I bit the bullet and bought a new very fast Tri bike.

It's a great feeling going fast.

I just looked closer at that ride. It covers a bunch of courses I've been doing for 4+ years now. There was one PR that was still living from my hybrid days. I must have been feeling good and had a massive tailwind when I set it. No matter what I've tried, I couldn't crack it. It fell yesterday, again with out concentrated hammering....that I'm aware of.

It's amazing what saving +30W in aero drag can do!
