Sunny
Total Time = 1h 34m 25s
Overall Rank = 38/272
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 3/13
Pre-race routine:

Typical drive, breakfast, and prep, although quite abbreviated. Only left ourselves a little over an hour to get ready!
Event warmup:

By far the least amount of warmup I've ever done. Light jog down to the lake. A little stretch and no more than a dip into the water before the gun.
Swim
  • 15m 42s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good first segment, mostly relaxed. I got in a log jam at the first corner which got my breathing out of sync. Never really got it back as I was really trying to push the last 200.
Transition 1
  • 03m 3s
Bike
  • 52m 54s
  • 17 miles
  • 19.28 mile/hr
Comments:

Worked hard. Bike was a little sticky. Overall a good ride.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

Top transition time in my age group. Everything went smooth.
Run
  • 21m 42s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 20s  min/km
Comments:

Good push. Shut it down a bit the last 4 mins when I realized I had nobody around me to race.
Post race
Event comments:

A little unorganized in transition. Way too crowded on our bike rack, but everyone was very friendly and cooperative. Good race though. Bike course was pleasant and the run was challenging.

Immediately I felt attracted by the challenge. I have done plenty of biking this summer and a new motivation, particularly toward the end of the summer, was what I needed.

I’m terrified of biking hills and the triathlon I am registered for has several hills…on AND off road!! I’m willing to do whatever it takes to finish this triathlon. Any guidance?
