Subject: First Sprint under my belt
finishes my first sprint on July 19 at my hometown in Chelan, WA. Technically they called it a try-a-tri but it was 400m, 13.2 and 3.1.

Swim in open water for the first time went better than expected and finished in 7:35. Bike was 42 minutes averaging 17.4 and then run was 27 minutes for 1:21 finish and 2nd overall out of 75.

Felt pretty good and successful first ever race considering only been training since May and rode the bike portion on my hybrid.

Another sprint distance next weekend and the swim in the pool. I am starting to like it.

Thanks. More training on the swim and I will feel better. Glad I started with the 400m swim for a first time one.

Need to really work on my run as my splits were not terrible but need work.

Congratulations! Chelan, eh? I love that area. My daughter went to college a couple of years in Wenatchee and loved it too.

Yes Lake Chelan is where I grew up. They hold an annual traithlon every year up to the half iron distance. Great place for my first open water swim and race.

Enjoyed the first race and now have a base line to where I need to go now.

TrainerRoad has definitely helped with the cycling since May and need to put more work in on getting my running splits down and swimming a little more.

And eventually getting a road/tri bike will be nice but shooting for close to 20mph over the 13.1 in a sprint by the end of the year.
