I understand, being a tropical creature myself, and without any of Yanti's medical issues..... But at Calgary 70.3, it was the same temperature, and all the Canadians were complaining about the "heat" on the run.They were spraying people with cold water and handing out ice in similar temps at Worlds--I ended up running around the spray as it was actually giving me chills!

Goooo Yanti!

As a Canadian, 24 is perfect racing temp.  Any hotter and it would be too hot.  Our blood naturally runs a little hot cuz of the cool temps.

I've been accused of being cold-blooded.....though mainly because of a very well-developed pre-race "cool" act. (But it is ALL for show and self-delusion purposes....If you act like you aren't nervous, maybe you'll feel less nervous.....Maybe???) A few of my HS competitors used to call me the Ice Girl--I was proud of that back in the day!

As for actual weather, a lot depends for me on humidity. My "happy zone" for tri would be mid 60's to mid-80's F in most cases. I'm fine with up to almost 90F (32?) if humidity is low. Wouldn't even modify my race or workout plans, except to drink more. Humid and 80's, can deal--that is normal for here, even in the early AM. Humid and 90's--annoying, and I will definitely slow down for a long race in that. Humid and 100's (40)--Yanti and I remember that one! No fun. It becomes more of a matter of survival at that point.

Looks like Yanti is keeping a steady pace at 75 km on the bike. So she hasn't frozen yet! Go Yanti!!!!

She apparently has installed a jet pack on her bike--did you see the 639.47 kph pace for one of the latter sections of the bike course?! GO YANTI!

Hope her run goes well--seems like she'd have time to walk most/all of it if she wanted or needed to.

She is about halfway through the run now...still holding steady. Maybe she will find another jetpack along the run course?? Just wish the time difference with Australia was an hour or two less. Looks like it is going to take another four hours and I am going to turn into a pumpkin in about two! Somebody over in North America can take over Yanti-stalking duties--you guys should be getting up to train now, shouldn't you?

Duh...Stacey is there in Australia (sorry--didn't see your update before posting), so you can stalk on local time! (Or are you there in person?)

Stalking via the net. Unfortunately I had to work last nigh (first of 5 school graduations to attend) so I couldn't go.

She has around 17km to go on the run, with around 2.5hours to go. It's gonna be real close as she has slowed down to around 5kph.

You can see Yanti finish if you go to the IM website--approximately nine or ten minutes from the end of the video. I think four or five more athletes finished after her; one lady with only 4 or 5 SECONDS left on the clock. It was like my first year at Vietnam 70.3--some older gentleman was in the final meters and really struggling (probably, given conditions that day, in final stages of heat exhaustion) and he was basically hauled over the line by the officials about a second before the clock hit 8:30!

I did not have great Internet quality this morning so Yanti looked kind of blurred, but right after she finishes you can see her clearly in the lower right corner of the screen and she gives an awesome smile.

Way to go and enjoy your recovery!

I think it looks like fun, especially if most of them are just supported training as you say.

A marathon every couple months could be challenging. Just make sure you keep up on the training. You don't want to be undertrained going in to those.  

I would love to do the Dopey challenge with you, especially if I can get DS2 doing it as well.  I'll see what he thinks when he re-surfaces but I doubt he'll have any idea that far ahead.

That's a busy season, Stacey!

Still plenty of openings in my 2017 plans, but so far I have:

April - St. Luke's half marathon

May - Got the Nerve sprint tri

Sept. - LP 70.3

I'm sure there will be a few more running races in there and triathlons, too, as prep for LP.  My desire is to have my season planned as such to set me up for a very strong, successful 70.3 at my favorite location.

I just looked up what the Dopey Challenge entails - a whole lotta running!  I think I'll pass.  It's at least 1 race too many for me, namely the marathon!  Kudos to those of you who are willing and able to complete such a feat!  For those who didn't look it up yet, it's a 5K Thursday, 10K Friday, 13.1 Saturday, 26.2 Sunday!  WOW!

Not only is he a great athlete, he is a great mentor. I have been in his mentor group for the last two rounds and he inspires and encourages our entire group daily.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
