Total Time = 1h 47m 37s
Overall Rank = 121/191
Age Group = Athena
Age Group Rank = 6/13
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 3:00 a.m. and drove down to get there before packet pickup closed at 6:00 a.m. (It didn't! But I got a good rack spot.)
Event warmup:

Watched the Olympic triathletes start, and then did a warm-up swim on the west end of the beach. There were millions and millions of nasty flying things buzzing the surface of the lake.
Swim
  • 13m 53s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 47s / 100 meters
Comments:

Great swim. I think this was one of my best!
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster.
Transition 1
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

I believe this is my first sub 2:00 T1. A photographer got in my face; I just ignored her. Hopefully, the photos will turn out good!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 54m 46s
  • 15 miles
  • 16.43 mile/hr
Comments:

Those hills kill me.
What would you do differently?:

Ride faster. I need to get better on hills.
Transition 2
  • 00m 39s
Comments:

Had to yell at people to get out of my way.
What would you do differently?:

Be more careful putting on my number. I pulled my belt over my head, and it snapped one of the number holes out, so I had to stick my number under my belt and mess with it a couple of times on the run.
Run
  • 36m 34s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Tried to run a 36-minute 5K; did pretty well!
What would you do differently?:

Run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Changed my clothes and ate pizza.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My body. I'm just too slow.

Event comments:

Good race, especially for beginners. The bike has a pretty big hill, both going out and coming back, but otherwise, the course is pretty flat and easy.

I was passing others who were saying, "Good job, 587" (that was my race number). People were cheering me on. These were the nicest people I have ever been around!
