Hi All.
Name is Paul.
Done duathlons back a few years ago. Suffer from Asthma when exercising so I do be slow but enjoy the participation aspect of it.
Looking to learn to swim. Also wear glasses so there be a great fear in open water

My goals for 2017
is to learn to swim.
Take part in a tri -Try.
Do some duathlons.

Came to this site from listening to beginner triathletes stories through the podcasts.
Hopefully i will succeed in my goals.

Hope ye are all well

Welcome!
There are a lot of sprint triathlons that have pool swims, so I suggest you start there if contact lenses or Lasik are not in your future.
Of course, those of us with perfect vision can't see a darn thing in the water either ... but I guess I can see the buoy I'm aiming for, so that's critical. :-)

Hang around, post in the Triathlon Talk forum, read the articles, etc! Great to have you!

There are also prescription goggle options, both custom (as in exactly your prescrip) or off the shelf (as in "I can see sorta") which my daughter wears when she doesn't wear her contacts.  The off the shelf ones are a lot cheaper.

Good luck and welcome!!

Finishing is what it's all about for me. Set your mind to it, you can do it. I did my 1st sprint at age 39. Done one every year since. 46 years old now. Find the time to train. You can do it. I live in Wisconsin, so training can be a challenge in the winter.
