Comments:

Here were my splits from the tracker and my watch:
Good conservative start! Felt strong and relaxed:
3 miles in 30:43 (10:14/mile)
4 miles 40:46 (10:01) - Gu #1
6 miles 1:01:02 (10:08/mi)
10k - 1:03:24 (10:12/mile)
7 miles in 1:11.25 (10:22)
8 @ 1:21.39 (10:14) - Gu #2
9 @ 1:32.46 (11:05 - stop to pee, no luck)
10 @1:45.18 (12:32 with 3-4min pee break)
11 @1:55.32 (10:14) Gu #3? somewhere in here.
12 @2:05:53 (10:19)
13 @ 2:16.00 (10:06)
half - 2:17:06 (10:42/mile) - pee break @ 9miles took 3-4mins. Minus 4 minutes and my pace is actually 10:08/mile here. VERY STRONG!
14 @ 2:26.25 (10:30) - Gu #4? somewhere here
15 @ 2:36.45 (10:20) - starting to slow here
16 @2:47.08 (10:23)
17@ 2:57.36 (10:27) Gu #5.
18 @ 3:08.04 (10:28)
30k- 3:14:52 (10:25/mi)- still doing really well here through 18.6 miles.
19 - 3:18 (10:20)
20 - 3:29 (10:41) Gu #6 - last one
21 - 3:39 (10:41)
22 - 3:50 (10:59) - ClifShot
23 - 4:01 (10:56) - ClifShot
24 - 4:12 (11:07) - ClifShot
25 - 4:24 (11:27)
26.2 - 4:37 (13.11)
Finish - 4:37:30 (10:56/mile)

I drank water everywhere it was available and had Gu about every 40 mins or so (ate 6 Gus plus ClifShots at end). Perhaps could have had a little more to eat since I really slowed down after 14, and then again after 22)

What would you do differently?:

For a first marathon this was pretty fantastic. I fueled and drank water well, started conservatively and wasn't in that much pain. It was less painful than my two 20 mile training runs! I just couldn't move very fast at the end.

Event comments:

This was my first marathon ever (although I've run many halves). It was a flat and beautiful course, well organized race with plenty of water stations and volunteers. The mile markers were pretty accurate so I had a good sense of my pace the whole way through. And Indy residents supported us in many neighborhoods, which made it extra fun. Great first marathon!
