  • 4224 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

Goggles fogged a few times in the first 800 yards
After that sighted very well and was happy with the swim!
What would you do differently?:

Smart to start at the back
Probably swam too hard
Adjust goggles to ensure no fog at the beginning
Transition 1
  • 11m 45s
Comments:

Basic Transition
Used Restroom
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 7h 33m 52s
  • 112 miles
  • 14.81 mile/hr
Comments:

Long gradual hill in the middle of the course and headwind on first loop cause a lot of energy expenditure and for me to slow down. Took it easy coasting back but 3 loops was tough without proper training for this race.
What would you do differently?:

Should have trained more for the Bike
Should have prepped more Infinit solution to take with me
Transition 2
  • 09m 25s
Comments:

Used restroom
Just needed hat, easy transition
No sunscreen
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 6h 20m 10s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 14m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Overcast for most of the time, rained near the end
Didn't realize how warm it was, should have tried to stay cooler
Got very dizzy around mile 11 and had to eat more and slow down to make it
Very long run/walk
Was good about salt pills
What would you do differently?:

Was smart about nutrition but probably should have eaten sooner
Keep cool and hydrated
Post race
Warm down:

Pizza and water
Massage and Stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training - JUST HAPPY TO FINISH!

Event comments:

Good race course and great volunteers. Beautiful scenery!

Often it makes sense to race slower in order to finish faster and at the same time have a more enjoyable Ironman Triathlon experience.

During the race there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange bottles, so I'm thinking about going with the aero bottle and Gatorade bottle and fill up as necessary. What should I do?

It is my opinion that even though everyone else considered her a triathlete, she did not consider herself one. I think she still felt like she had no fitness direction and had given up on triathlon.
