Nick,

Welcome to the group...

Hey everyone,

Long time, no see .... I took some time off after IM Whistler, did some cycling and a few swims, then school got underway (I teach) and...here we are mid-November, where I have gotten noticeably 'less-lean'

I have started running 4-5 km several times a week the past month or so, and will finally do a half-marathon this coming year ... I hope ! It has been on my mind for a couple years, but injuries or logistics have kept it from coming true. I am still undecided on whether I want to do a full again, or stay with several smaller events this coming season, tho the latter seems to have more appeal lately. Less of the old "all my eggs in one basket" trap.

Anyways, I just thought I would pop in, say 'hey', try to commit to a more focused training routine, including more bike-trainer time, and most importantly , to ask how everyone is getting on with their goals. Have we all met those goals we set for 2017??

I did great with my goals in 2017.  I am an all the eggs in one basket type of guy.  I do just enough races to keep me motivated to train.  I do long enough races that I know I won't be able to breeze through them and will have to put my best effort into things.  After challenging 70.3 races in 2015 and 2016 I decided to make an Olympic race my A race in 2017.  I did much better at the shorter distance, but then when went ahead and did a 70.3 race after the OLY too to keep me training and did even better at the 70.3.  My goal is to just improve every year.

Curtis,

You had a great year. I guess it is nearing that time to begin planning and goal-setting for the year ahead.

I would like to know if this mentor group will continue into 2018.... I hope so!

Hey Kelly,

Yes, the plan is for Gray Guys/Gals to be back next year.  I haven't heard anything officially from Ron or Alice but I anticipate next year's group will open up sometime around Christmas as it has the last couple of years.

I've "spoken" with Alice.  It's official!  Gray Guys/Gals will be back in 2018.  I'll post here when the new group goes live.  Hope to see you all next year!

Hi all,

Just wanted to say again that we are on track to launch the 2018 mentor group in the next few days (when is an admin function that we have no control over).  Typically it launches right around the first of the New Year.  I look forward to seeing all of you in the New Year!

Hey everyone,

The 2017 Mentor Groups, including Gray Guys/gals, will be moved to an archive on 12/30.  The new 2018 groups will be starting up about the same time.

Look forward to seeing you all in the new 2018 Gray Guys/Gals Mentor Group!

Hey everyone!

Gray Guys/Gals wasn't included in the first round of 2018 mentor groups that were rolled out.  Be patient, it will be live soon.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
