Subject: 1.11.17 Hump Day!

Good morning!  I couldn't log on this morning for some reason...server was down or something!

4:15am: :35 minute run with 6X 2:00 hard intervals
5:00am: :60 minute bike trainer with isolated leg drills + high cadence interval work

As far as the nutrition part of the boot camp--the kids have given up all refined/added sugars.  I've taught them how to read labels and they have a list of 56 alternate names for sugars. They have become sugar detectives--if any of those are listed in the ingredients they are to avoid.  However, fruit is ok as the fiber helps cut down on the insulin response.  Fruit juices, not so much.  Might as well drink sugar water.  They are astounded by how sugar is in everything.   We are also watching "Fed Up" together.  They're learning a lot and that's my goal. I realize they will probably go back to eating sugar again after the 6 weeks, but at least I know they have the knowledge that will hopefully carry them into their later teen/early adult years.

Have a great day!

That's great, Kim. That will probably make as much a difference as anything.

5:40 - 20' easy run

11:45 - 2,900 yard swim, lots of tempo work

My wife asked me this morning when training ramps up. I'd say it already has . . .

Have a great day!
