With a 2.1m swell and a near total lack of fitness it was a reasonable time.

Pulled at 175km. By 150 I knew I wouldn't make cut off but had to keep going until I got to T2 or was pulled. By the time I was pulled my grip on the handle bars had been failing for about 20km and I was having to stop constantly to shake them out and flex them.

Comments:

I am quite happy to not have made it this far. The wooden board walk was slippery due to the rain and the strong wind made it difficult for much better runners than I to even stay upright let along move in a straight line.

Event comments:

My first and last DNF. The weather in "tropical" Cairns was utter crap. 18C, completely overcast, wind averaging 35km/h and rain all day.

During the race there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange bottles, so I'm thinking about going with the aero bottle and Gatorade bottle and fill up as necessary. What should I do?
