Subject: Need advice deciding between two bikes.
First off, I'm new to this community so hello everyone!

I'm a bit of a novice, I've done a bunch of sprints and a couple Olympic distance but never been very competitive. I mostly just do it to stay in shape. I recently bought a 1995 Giant CFR3. Decent bike with 57 carbon frame (I'm about 6 foot). It was stolen 6 days after I bought it so I filed a police report and ending up buying another bike. The second bike is a 2001 Quintana Roo Tequilo. Right after I bought the Quintana the cops called me and recovered the Giant. So long story short, I now have 2 bikes to choose from and can't make up my mind. The Quintana is probably a better bike and weighs less. It's also purpose built for triathlons with tri bars and bull horns and better equipment in general. The problem is I think it might be a bit small for me. It's a 56 frame and it has 650 X 23C tires. The Giant is a 57 frame with 700 X 25C. I don't know how much this really matters though because I can set up the Quintana comfortably for my size and the measurements from ground to the handlebars etc are basically identical. I think the Giant will probably be a better commuter due to the wider tires and Shimano STI shifters. The bike is mostly for races but I also plan on commuting on it once in a while or just cruising the sea wall and I don't have the room to keep both

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

Thanks!
Travis

The correct answer is keep both ! Get rid of whatever you have to in order to make room. Dog, cat, wife or girlfriend, kitchen table - something else must go. The practical answer is you'll probably be more comfortable keeping the Giant if you are commuting on it. You can add clip ons to race. Not that you couldn't commute on the Quintana. Is it older? Surprised there's 650's on a bike that size.

Haha I'd love to but the missus would leave me (maybe I should keep it then). I was under the impression that 650 wheels weren't uncommon on tri bikes like Quintanas.

I'm not a bike expert so I might get corrected. Quintana was an early adapter of 650 wheels but that was years ago. They might be , along with another maybe specialized (?) offering 650's on small bikes. But I don't think anyone currently offers a 56 frame with 650 wheels. Which is why I thought it was an older bike. I could be way off here though.

I'd say to sell both and get a more modern ride.  Heck I have my 2013 B12 on the market locally (FL) as I'm getting out of dedicated tri training due to persistent foot injury/issues.  Don't know what your budget is but a nice ride can be had at a pretty reasonable price (relatively speaking of course).  You can view a site such as Bicyclebluebook.com to get an idea of bike values.
