Right now, my focus is just getting back in shape, with 1-2 sprint tris this year. I've battled through two IT Band tears in the last 3-4 years, plus kids, career, etc. My short-term, 1-year goal is an Olympic Distance next summer, and possibly a HIM late next year or in 2019.
A little over 6 years ago, when I was doing tris regularly (sprints ), I was swimming 2000-2500m at a time in the pool, after building up, I've done a few OWS along the way, including a HIM DNF in 2008 (Kansas 70.3 ) because I sucked at riding! I've swam the OWS portion of an OLY relay in 2009, maintaining my slow 2:00/100m pace really well.
I'm 37 (38 next month ) with primarily running background (multiples Half Marathons before my first IT Band tear when training for a full ). Cycling is my triathlon weakness (I enjoy trail riding far more than road cycling ). I only have a mountain bike right now. No immediate plans to upgrade to a road bike until things become more serious with my training into next year. (It's not in the budget ) |
