Subject: first tri at 62
Actually have finished my first 2 sprint tri's. Quite pleased with myself even if I came last in my AG on both events. That is with a surfing shorty wetsuit and a 100 year old unrestored road bike. But the weakest link is NOT the equipment!

I think the bug has taken hold because here I am on a tri forum!

I run fairly often but have an awful swim technique (a lazy 28 min km) and I get spooked going fast on a bike. I'm finishing between 1:45 and 1:50. Looking at the fast guys in my age groups I have plenty of room for improvement.

So...improve my swim technique (youtube or a coach)....bike more often to get used to the speed...keep running...sign up for more races...and maybe some equipment.

I'm liking it.

If you can find a swim coach and you have the spare money to pay for it then I would say go that way, if not then maybe see if you can get someone to video you swimming and post it in the main forum and you will get some helpful feedback from a number of swim coaches that are on the site.
