Overall Rank = 27/290
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 4/23
Pre-race routine:

Woke up early and ate a banana and two slices of cinnamon raisin bread. Left for the race early to get a spot.
Event warmup:

Stretched and did some arm waves before the swim. Swim was in the pool, so I did not get a chance to warm up.
Swim
  • 05m 5s
  • 300 meters
  • 01m 41s / 100 meters
Comments:

Got lucky and had a fast swimmer infront of me and a slower swimmer behind me, so I could swim at my own pace without running into anyone. Felt strong and controlled.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Good transition. Ran up from the pool. No traffic at the rack. Got up to speed and in the shoes quickly.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 35m 25s
  • 12.7 miles
  • 21.52 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt strong. Bike is getting better. Averaged over 21 mph for the first time.
What would you do differently?:

Continue bike training. I think there is still room for improvement.
Transition 2
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

Got slowed right at the mat by another racer. Almost ran into him, but was in control and slowed down. Overall a good transition.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Feeling like I've got the transitions down pat...
Run
  • 24m 50s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

I am still not a "runner". I am going to start speed work soon to see if I can pick up some speed.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Could have pushed a little bit harder, but was happy overall.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Drank a gatorade and two bottles of water. Felt pretty good.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Speed. Need to get faster. Endurance can always improve as well.

Event comments:

Great local race. A lot of friends racing which made it more fun. Overall a well run race.

A lot of beginners and relay teams. Would be a great first triathlon with the pool swim and shorter bike course.

Your bike costs a lot to replace. Don't let it get rusty.
