Hey BT!  How are ya!

Doing my ride up to Angel Lake on my mountain bike this morning...and with a friend!  She wanted a challenge so I'm giving her one, lol! It's so rare for me to bike with anyone so I'm pretty excited.

Just when I thought I was done racing for the season I found one more to do--a 5K in Marshall, MO, where our older daughter is going to college.  Marshall happens to be in the direct path of the solar eclipse.  Hubby is a science teacher and huge astronomy geek so we're staying in Marshall through the 21st to see the eclipse (he ordered the special glasses weeks ago!)  Anyway, Marshall has a solar eclipse festival going on the whole weekend prior to the eclipse and a 5K is part of it.  I have to do it!

Karen, thanks for the flick tips...I'm totally interested in watching the Western 100 footage!

Have a great day!

Hello! Cool! Enjoy the eclipse! Of course you have to do the 5k, it would be rude not to!!

End of a recovery week for me, just back from a short ride. I am not following a plan but felt I needed one. From tomorrow, 2 weeks of normal training and then it's race week. A sprint (400m 20k 5k) that's all I do until further notice. It will be my 6th but until now, I was just happy to finish and did not train much. This year something clicked and I have trained more seriously. It will be interesting to see if I have improved.
Have a nice day all!

20 miles of power intervals before church. Great work out when you're limited on time.
Have a great day BT!

6:30: 3 mile easy run before getting the family ready and out the door for church. My knee (IT Band) is feeling great, which I'm very thankful for!

Kim, have fun on the bike ride!! Also, have fun when you all are out here in Missouri! Sounds like a fun weekend for you and your family!

Cannot say that my Sunday had a lot of fun factor in it. I have been struggling for several weeks with what has been variously diagnosed as an inflamed toe joint and Morton's neuroma (quite possibly it is both). What that basically means is my toe really hurts when I run, probably triggered by some ill-fitting bike shoes. It had been mostly a low-grade niggle since late March until CDA, when things got much worse. Now with Worlds coming up and not a whole lot of obvious improvement (I can run, but it hurts), I'm moving most of my long/hard runs to the pool until/unless things improve. So.....

1:40 of running in my 17m apartment pool. (Yes, really, with one of the Aquajogger thingies.) I have not done this since college. It was still stunningly dull, made worse by the fact that I don't have a waterproof phone or MP-3 player. All I had for amusement was the workout, various "challenges" I set myself as to number of laps I could do in a given time, and hoping that not too many neighbors were watching. (Half the balconies of my building and the opposite one, plus some adjoining properties, face the pool.) Let's just say that watching grocery trucks would have been much more thrilling. It was about up there with watching paint dry. One kid took pity on me and yelled from the balcony, "Lady, are you bored?" Hopefully he is not one of my new students (kids come for orientation tomorrow) or that would be interesting. "Mom, that's the crazy lady that wouldn't stop running around the pool!"

I feel your pain! I do this sometimes in hotel pools and it is BORING!! When I'm alone in the pool, my entertainment is to go around the outside of the pool as fast as I can to try to get a whirlpool going. Then, my reward/fun is to ride the whirlpool until it dies down. Yep, life as a water walker can get pretty boring!!

Kim, I'm jealous you'll get to see the eclipse. Have fun!

6:20 - 50' run at 75% effort.

Have a great day/week!
