Dating myself here, but we used to GO TO BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO and rent Sopranos by the season DVD sets. Gosh that brings back memories.

At least you were renting DVDs and not Videos like I used to

For anyone interested in scenic ride videos, Bike the World just posted their longest video yet:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdhIUHlyyAs

About 3:15 worth of riding in Spain. I haven't watched this one yet. Not quite sure when my next 3 hour plus ride will be. After having two races in a row derailed by events out of my control (food poisoning, Dad's death), I'm almost afraid to train for another one. Would like to do Vietnam 70.3 but not sure I can get leave from work--it would be unpaid in any case after all the leave for Worlds and this.

Does getting VHS tapes from the mom and pop stores that were around before Blockbuster qualify as dating myself?

Unfortunately, I'm not asking for a friend.

That's awesome!
We had Steve's grandkids one weekend (they were ages 5 and 3 at the time) and wanted to rent some kid's movie, which was not available for download. So we drove them to Family Video and the oldest one was freaking out thinking we were taking them to a movie theater. They had no concept of going to a brick and mortar store and physically picking out a movie to watch.

Haha, I have very fond memories of my Dad coming home from work on a Friday night with a RENTED VHS PLAYER that he would hook up to the TV so we could watch our rented VHS movie. We thought we were pretty slick

Get better, all of you Manatees that are feeling somewhat under the weather -- no names since you are still training but know that we are thinking of you!

Anyone have big plans for Presidents' Day weekend? I'm still contemplating, but may end up at the beach, so no special training.

On a plan to Vietnam Sunday into Monday. Then will have one more day of Tet holiday before I have to be back at work.

45* and sunny, perfect racing weather!  (I meant that very seriously) Oh, and possibly residual snow from Saturday, they're calling for 1-4" which I'll believe when I see.  It's been in the 50s or 60s the past 2 days here and the ground is no longer frozen.

Good luck to ya, Robin!

OMG beach is definitely on the agenda for spring break. Mom and I desperately need a real vacation. It's just a question of where. Thinking about Bintan in Indonesia (Yanti--if you are there, let me know if we could bring stuff for the tri kids there) or maybe Phu Quoc in Vietnam, plus a brief junket to Singapore.

That would be great for both of you! How is your Mom doing? How are you doing?

We are hanging in there. Mom's health is a lot better (she also had flu) so that is a relief. She's cleaning the house and taking walks again. I think it will be good for her just to go somewhere else for a while. She has been to visit me in Vietnam twice before and really enjoyed it. We'll try to squeeze in some short trips in SE Asia as well.

It's just been this endless round of forms, banks, offices..... I would do anything to go for a quiet hike in the woods or something, just to clear my head a bit. Dad left his records in a total mess. Hard to blame him--my parents moved in the fall, and soon after his health began to really go downhill, so I don't think he ever had the energy to get things organized again. There were quite a few "surprises", both financial and personal, as we went through his things....I'm not going to say more on a public forum!

We found a foster home till June for the kitty (Shelby) that we adopted just before Christmas (she was my dad's present), so that was a relief. She has been a great comfort to us these past few weeks. We had really bonded with her--very social and friendly. When we dropped her off yesterday, it felt like a total betrayal. Shelby was relinquished by her first owners to a rescue shelter last November after a divorce and custody battle. Then she was in the room when my dad passed away. And now this. If they had counselors for cats, she probably needs one!

Now the house seems way, way too quiet, minus two family members.

Yes. Well...no..Actually at work.

Ran my first 3 miles post recovery without any walk breaks and improved my pace a tiny bit. Things going in the right direction though still sloooooow. Waiting on my PT to finish so I can start hitting the pool. Didn't want to mess things up while that's still going on.

Thinking about signing up for a super sprint mid April.

Well, this "racer" did okay. It was just a run for me. The day was absolutely perfect, sunny, cool to warm. I was not last, but pretty close to it. My times were un official because of some flaw in the timing chip. It made absolutely no difference to me. Of note, if I had decided to do the 10 K (that I had pondered) I would have been 3rd in my age group and gotten a wonderful mug. That was if I crawled the whole way. The best thing about getting older and smaller races. We met some really wonderful friends from out of town afterwards at a winery and then mexican for dinner.

Love it! I "race" for the post-race activities too! Well done.
