We are back to winter...wind chill, snow...uggggh!  I knew we were getting spoiled with some of our earlier beautiful weather.  Oh well...I'll appreciate spring so much more!

4:45am:  :45 minute run followed by strength/stretching.  I'd say I'm back to about 92%--good thing since I have a half marathon March 6!

Have a great Friday and happy training today!

Hey there. Our weather might be taking a turn - temp is up about 8 degrees. Sunday is supposed to be sunny with a high of 70 - good thing, as my wife has her first marathon that day. Well, hopefully, she gets the cooler part of the day (low of mid 40s)

11:40 - 20' easy run on the treadmill

12:00 - 40' strength

Have a great day and weekend!

We had freezing rain on Wednesday and Thursday, but it was a solid 40 degrees this morning with no rain so today was my first day back from the Flu.  Last Friday I got some sniffles and in the evening felt like I was going to get sick.  All my family had been fighting the Flu for over a week but I never get sick so I wasn't too worried.  On Saturday I got the full blown flu.  I didn't do anything the whole day but sleep.  Every time I breathed my whole body ached and even when I wasn't breathing my head pounded and the build up of pressure behind my eyes made my head feel like my head was going to pop.  My fever was 102-103 deg F.  Over night my fever broke.  My body was aching.  especially from my neck to my lower back.  I decided that laying all lay was not the best for the aches so Sunday I did my best to stay up and on my feel all day.  Sunday I just felt like I had a cold which was much better than the full on flu.  I was happy that I had work off on Monday and enjoyed the extra recovery day.  I felt okay on Monday.  Tuesday I went back to work and felt okay on Tuesday.  Wednesday the lagging cough got worse and my lungs got a frog in them.  If the weather had been agreeable on Wednesday and Thursday I may have tried to do some light work outs but with freezing rain I didn't push things.  This week's training looked fun but I missed nearly all of it.  Today was the following:

5:30 AM:  Run, 10' WU, 6x30" (30"RI), 6X800m hills (3:00' RI), 5' CD.  I was supposed to d the 800m hill at 10K pace but they were more like a 25K pace so that I didn't over do it my first day back. So at least I got mone fun work out in this week.  :-)

Take it easy. I think I had this virus last February/March (we test-drive them in Asia for the rest of the world) and I missed a good three weeks of training. Each time I tried to do something ambitious (pretty much anything beyond lying on the couch and light housework) I would end up relapsing. I'd been sick for almost three weeks when I had to go on a three-day school trip (aka no rest or sleep) and ended up so sick I almost took myself to ER. The virus tends to come back with a vengeance (or maybe you get other infections on top of it) if you don't give it the rest it deserves.

AM: One hour trainer ride with some pickups.
PM: 30 minutes of strength stuff

I think I lost most of the fitness I built up all winter during the three weeks I was home, and am starting from scratch again. Ugh.

Strength training only today. Highs in the 70s this weekend. May try getting the bike out on the road again.

515am: 2.5km run. Easing off before my first race next weekend. It has been very stormy and rainy here which has kept me from one planned swim and ride.
