Pre-race routine:

None, just went by and picked up my sister-in-law.

Ate a bacon and egg biscuit from McDonald's with a bottle of water.
Event warmup:

Walked about 1/4 mile and then stretched for 5 minutes or so.
Run
  • 36m 55s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

The run was good. Went out and ran/walked the first mile in 10:21. Got to the second mile marker at 22:48. Was running a few (3-4) minutes and then walking 1 minute. Scrapped that after mile 1 due to the hills. Ended up walking up the hills and running down the hills and through the stretches.
What would you do differently?:

Keep training. My speed is pretty good when I run but I have to build up my endurance to be able to run longer.
Post race
Warm down:

None

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training, excess weight, etc...

Event comments:

Post race activities were pretty good. Had chili, vegetable soup, muffins, orange slices and banannas. Pretty good spread. Lots of awards for runners, good thing. Some door prize give aways, good. They had a raffle for the Children's Wish Foundation. I won an Atlanta Hawks autographed basketball.

Nice work, Mike! If you can do a 5k in this time now, just think how fast you'll be after more running!
