I think this article is very informative:

What do you think?

I don't think it says a thing about picking the "best" gear.

It's ok if you're completely unaware of the equipment necessary to complete a triathlon, but it doesn't seem to offer anything beyond that.  Not trying to be harsh, but I don't understand the point of the article.  It doesn't seem to expand of the theme presented in the title.

I think this article sounds like a decent jr high one-page report that got titled by a newspaper editor to get attention. No useful info on how to actually go about choosing the best gear, no suggestions as to which gear actually is best, etc.

Not much useful info in there, and it seems pretty amateurish to me (which, considering that I'm as much of an amateur as it gets, is saying something). A couple of glaring problems: it doesn't mention proper fit as a component for getting a bike, which is a huge miss.  Also, it spells the word "pedal" incorrectly, and it links to a couple of articles which misspell the word "triathlon" in more than one place.

In triathlons, and biathlons, the cycling leg requires an athlete to invest in a good bicycle, a helmet, clothing and cycling shoes, aero-bars, seat and peddles.

I can't agrue with the importance of using peddles (sic).
