I am experiencing shoulder pain when swimming and post swimming Ok so it is also when I am sleeping and pretty much most of the time. I think it may be do to muscle imbalances caused by my increased swimming volume. Can someone tell me what exercises I need to do to balance this out?

can't tell you what exercises to do BUT i can tell you to get it sorted asap. i had shoulder surgery almost two ye3ars ago because of shoulder pain from swimming....be careful!!!!

btw get a coach to look at your stroke - that may be causing your problems.

Might be a good idea to get a doctor to write you a script for physical therapy...The PT can assess any imbalances you have and prescribe an exercise program. It would also be helpful if the PT had a swim or tri background.

Having not seen you swim I can't say for sure, but I would be willing to bet that you are "straight arming" your pull, causing pressure on the shoulder. Get some one to look at your stroke and if the pain doesn't go away go see a doctor. It could cause rotator cuff problems or tendonitis in the bicep tendon.

Try to find out the cause of your pain. One exercise I like to do is the side lying abduction. Works the entire rotator cuff.
