For a little extra inspiration boost, and some insight into the mind of endurance athletes. (Or people who stuck it out for the long haul.) I only have 3 movies so far:

Southbounders (6 months over the Appalachian trails) http://www.southbounders.com/trailer.html

Hands on a Hard Body (whoever can stand the longest, wins the truck) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116481/

Breaking Away http://imdb.com/title/tt0078902/

Anybody have any others to recommend?

OOOP! I just noticed the other thread that's talking about motivation (movies & music). Sorry about that!

Here's a good one that was released last year:

http://www.journeyfilm.com/therunner/index.html

THE RUNNER follows Extreme UltraRunner David Horton through the desert sun, the high snowbound mountain passes, the pain, the emotion, and his revelation. Join him as he runs more than 40 miles per day for 66 consecutive days in an attempt to set the speed record on the 2,700 mile Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada.

Director and former PCT thru-hiker JB Benna follows Horton’s journey and discovers who he really is. Learn about UltraRunning, the PCT, and the history of this amazing person through interviews with today’s best endurance athletes, his family, and David himself.

A great adventure, a movie that makes you laugh, and a movie that makes you cry.

What drives David to such extreme challenges?

What does it take to become THE RUNNER?

There's a tri-shop in NYC that did a "Hands on a Scott Plasma Frame" contest last year.  The winner hung in for just over 72 hours.  Everyone was so amazed that the guys hung in so long, that they awarded the second place guy a Plasma frame also.

(oops--sorry.  Hijack over)

Wow, that's SWEET! Forget the truck. I'd go for that one. I don't imagine you could fit as many hands on one frame though as you can on a truck. (But then you'd probably have a stronger lot of people competing in the first place, so you wouldn't need so many contestants.)
