Total Time = 1h 06m 15s
Overall Rank = 2/60
Age Group = F30-34
Age Group Rank = 1/8
Pre-race routine:

Got up, ate waffles and had some coffee.
Woke up the rest of the family and we headed off.

Event warmup:

My son was doing the kids tri- his first- so I walked around watching him and stressing that he was going to drown.
I also met up with some fellow BTers :)
Swim
  • 09m 36s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 24s / 100 meters
Comments:

This was a reverse tri. Swim was last so I spent the last lap of the bike course mentally preparing myself for this swim. Last year I did terribly in the pool here. This time I did OK, swam the whole way, even passed a few people and almost got passed by a girl at the very end.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. reverse tri swims are hard.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Transitions included in bike times.
Nothing much to except remove shoes, socks and helmet :) Had a bit of a run to the pool area.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 43m 8s
  • 13.5 miles
  • 18.78 mile/hr
Comments:

I like this bike course because it is flat and you get to do 4 laps- I got to see my family each time around. But there are some places where it is impossible to pass, so I had to wait patiently a few times.
What would you do differently?:

Push it a bit more. I had a lot left at the end of the bike leg.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Included in bike time.
This was an easy transition as all I had to do was put on my helmet.
I was using platform pedals, so I didnt even have to change shoes :)
Run
  • 13m 42s
  • 2 miles
  • 06m 51s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt good on the run. My stress fracture gave me no problem (I guess it really does take 6 weeks to heal!). They started the women after the men, so I didnt get passed but did some passing- always good for morale!
Post race
Warm down:

We hung out for a bit eating and waiting for results. I couldn't believe it when it said I was 2nd overall female. All the good athletes must still be recovering from IMAZ ;) I got a need trophy and opted for the "surprise box" for my prize- had shirts, water bottles and a gift card.
My son took 5th in his AG and was stoked to get his ribbon.
Hung out with Tanya (standswithfist) and her family at the results- she got a well deserved 2nd in her tough AG!
All the BTers did great- a shout out to BHannahs, Triguyfitz and MikeG who all did awesome. It was nice to meet them.
We were allowed to swim in the Y pool after the race- the kids loved it.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of sleep this week and lack of running lately. I also used my old platform pedals which was fine as it wasn't a long course or windy, but I might have been a bit faster using clipless.

Event comments:

This was a fun race. Reverse tris are great because you start all together and always have people to compete with. I think I still prefer to do a tri in the correct order but this was fun too.

Great job! Congrats on the hardware!

You had an awesome run...and especially for just coming back from a six-week layoff! I'm glad your son had fun and did well in race too. It sounded like a great day .

I second what Lauryn said, I still cannot believe you are in recovery from a Sx fracture and you pull those times. I like the idea of using platforms...HEY no shoe change! SMART! But I suppose you would gain time with clipless...hmmm. WAY to go for your son, it must be awesome as a TRI mom to watch your TRI son! Way to go on 2nd overall...you must be THRILLED! (I am for you!)

HOLY COW, WOMAN!! HAHA!! Niiiiiiiiiice........

I'll just call you speedyrio from now on, how's that? So your bike average was probably closer to 20 than 19 if your T time is included - if not HIGHER. And yes, passing people is always fun for the morale -- you deserve it. Glad your son enjoyed his race, too!

CONGRATS on a pain-free run, too!!

Well i say, I say...you are one fast roadrunner....beep,beep. Under 7 minutes per mile. I think you probably saved time overall wearing the same shoes rather than changing in and out of cycling shoes. Great job

Glad your son had a great time, is he hooked?

Awe striking performance yesterday!! I wish I could have seen it, but I was somewhere a long way behind you after you blew by me on the run!! When your foot is completely healed, you're going to be unstoppable!!

Such a great race!!!  Maybe your foot healed in some weird way like when pitchers have shoulder surgery and then they throw faster after they heal!  You are only going to continue to get faster as you return to your normal routine!!!  1st is totally within your reach!!!  Again......GREAT job!  You rock!!!

Congratu-Freakin-Lations!!! You were flying on the run and bike! I'm very impressed by your times, thinking if you're logging over 18.7mph and transition was included... well... I just wouldn't want to meet you on that race course! Also noting you aren't strong on the run, 6:51 seems fairly strong to me. Can't shake a stick at a 1 and 2 finish... STUD GIRL!! Most of us dream of those types of finishes.

Great Job!

CONGRATS!!!!!

You have something to be VERY proud about. I'm sure that in addition to your son being proud of himself he is also VERY proud of his Rocket Mom.

Let the foot rest a little this week to make sure all is well.

Awesome job.
