Subject: Ironhead Sprint and Olympic races - Wetsuit ???

I notice on the Ironhead website it says no wetsuit for spint (june) and oly (july).  I am assuming because the water will be plenty hot enough.  Is there a change that might change?  I am considering buying a wetsuit (more to train in the winter) and could justify the cost if I could race a few times after I first buy it.

When will the water be warm enough to swim without a wet suit in Dallas lakes?

The water will be too hot. Doubtful it will change.

The water should be warm enough I would think mid/end May or June.

If you ever plan on doing races outside of Dallas/Texas... and if you plan on HIM's or an IM... or if you plan on OWSing in the cold months- the wetsuit purchase would be justified.

Are all HIM and IM wetsuit legal?  Just curious. I would love to do one someday but I don't know if I would be married if I do.

If they measured the temperature deep enough, I'm sure it would be wetsuit legal.  But Jack would rather just level the playing field for everyone.

Even if the temperatures meet USAT wetsuit requirements, a RD can ban them.

That is kind of what I was thinking.  I sure if they measure in certain places it would be wetsuit legal, which is what I was hoping for.

Has Prairie Man been wetsuit legal in recent years?
