Good luck Scott,

I just did Motor City Olympic and we're signed up for Steelhead, so I'm going to pass on Grand Haven this year.

Can't pass up a race in my own back yard!! I'm in for the 1/2 (tune-up for Steelhead). Swimming the lake on Friday and Tuesday mornings and riding the course early a.m. Saturday if anyone is interested.

Earlier this year my plan was to do this as my first HIM. But now, with no job I don't want to spare the $130 to sign up and the cost of a hotel. Good luck to all of you that are racing it and tell me how the HIM is so I can plan on it for next year!

My hubby (jowisc) and I are doing the Olympic.  Has anyone done this race before?  Is it a good one?  Although we frequently swim in Lake Mich over here on the IL side, this will be my first Lake Mich race and I'm a little nervous.  How's the water over there these days?

I did this race last year (oly) and I think its a great race - the beach is awesome and The water has been very nice (lower 70's) however it got very cold in the last couple of days like in the 50's -

It looks like it "should" warm up by next weekend its supposed to be warm this week - We'll see....

I'm doing the Sprint.  This is the first tri of the season for me.  I plan to use it as a training time.  My sprint speed is more like a reverse gear right now.  My legs are shot.  My arms are weak... but ....

I'm looking forward to having some fun.

Hey Shermbelle,

Lake temp was only 50 here in GH today, so I'm going to swim the pool tomorrow. Our warm water got blown out towards Milwaukee with the east winds last week. Fear not, however, it is on it's way back with the west winds this week. Should be back in the low to mid 60's by Thursday/Friday according to the marine weather guessers.

Planning on a quick dip Friday morning though if you are interested. I'll be in the water around 6am.

That is good news. I have been watching the weather on the news faithfully hoping they say the winds will shift back. Where do you start swimming at? I hopefully can make it out there around 6AM

I start at City Beach (just south of the State Park). If the gates are open, I'll park in the lot, otherwise there is parking on the east side of the street. Hope to see you there!

No worries. Don't you hate it when work gets in the way? Water was "refreshing" this morning, a bit chilly yet, but tolerable once you got going. I was hitting pockets that felt upper 50's to low 60's. Temps should be fine for race day, I'm now worried about waves/swell with the winds they are forecasting.......
