It's only fun till you see me weeping on the side of the road becuase I am so far back that there is no one to follow to keep me from getting lost on the bike!

But not being a swimmer and running like a jogger gives me the real handicap!

I have to stay in the same class as Croc-boy, and he is now down to 198 and change.  Therefore, no Heavy dude race for me

There's an article in the new Runner's World  about some woman that was just shy of her weight division thing (they had a scale at packet pick-up). So she left, ate this huge heavy meal and a ton of water, came back and weighed in. She won.

No...he is just agreeing that I am fat and only one gorging session away from Athena, and showing that if I did it, I could perhaps win.

So to all of you past Soma finishers........

What if any, things caught you by surprise about the course?? Anything you would tell someone to be careful of....or something you were not expecting???? Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Jeremiah- I've never done Soma before, and I think they have changed the bike course this year anyways. But I am planning on doing the pre-ride and run on saturday. I'll let you know how that goes

There aren't many surprises at Soma, for the most part.  It is fairly flat and fast.  However, there is one spot on the bike course (however, it may be different this year since the course has changed), where you wind up a short but fairly steep (at least it seemed like it to me at the time) hill on either College or Curry.  On the Quarterman, that was a spot that we had to ride twice.  On a course where you get very used to the flats, the one little hill surprises you a little, especially when you hit it the second time.

I'm going to do the pre-ride tomorrow. I'll let you know if I find anything unusual on the course. It was very helpful for me to preride Nathan's/Timex so that I knew about that horrid joint on the bridge.

If you have them, bring tinted goggles. Did the Splash & Dash this morning. We started at 7:30. It's not only hard to see going east, but virtually impossible when going south. The sun is low enough that it's right in your eyes as you're heading to the exit.
