You all will be happy to know that the swim course is right along the shore line from a deep water start to a somewhat sandy beach entry.

The bike has some very minor hills, nothing to worry about.

If you choose you can leave your bike at the transition the night before. Koz has hired security and your bikes will be safe.

I hope to see you all in the beer garden after the race.

I am also very excited. I made the beginner clinic and it was a great help. It put my mind at ease. I did my first swim ever in my wetsuit this am (in a friends saltwater pool) All I have to say is where has my wetsuit been all my life. It was so much easier to swim in it that without. I feel much more confident about the swim.

Also, working on the transitions at the clinic really helped. Hey Buck, were you one of the beginner coaches? If not someone out there is impersonating you

I can't wait to see the pictures from the clinic. You guys were moving quick through those transitions.

How about that wet feet simulation? Was that funny or what? What can you do? Lifeguards say stay out of the water for 3 days after rain. We had to improvise.

The water on the feet was pretty silly, but I get the reasoning. I keep remembering the comment about waking up four hours before the race start, eating cereal, then going back to sleep. Do you really do that? My morning downfall will be all of the coffee I drink.

I am really glad you guys do the beginners stuff with the club. It is a great thing you do.

I really do do that... I learned it in my Sports Nutrition class, the teacher was an Ironman veteran. The ideal time to eat before an endurance event is 3-4 hours before. I doesn't apply so much with events under 1:45, but I make a habit of it.

I love coffee before a race as well, I've found that 7-11 coffee mixed with the fake powdered/flavored machine coffee stuff processes better in my system than straight coffee. I think it's peanut butter banana this week. When I drink espresso before a race I get a little heartburn.

If you decide to eat 1-2 hours before the race, you should make it liquid or something easy to process that you know you can run with in your belly. If you decide to eat a big dinner, remember you will be carrying some of that with you in the race. The porto-pottys are no fun after you've had a massive dinner... ewwww

Remember, during a sprint, you don't need much beyond maybe something like a gel after the swim, which is a little much anyway. It takes 10-20 min for it to hit you and digestion can sometimes hinder your race. If you haven't trained with it, you probably don't need it. This is a sprint, which means every minute counts, you may not want to be bothered with nutrition unless you know you're going to wear out early.

One last point before I try and get 6 hours tonight. The most important night of rest is not the night before, but actually 2 nights before. So make sure you get a restful night on Friday, cuz it is most likely you will have a hard night sleeping Saturday.

I hope this info helps in your preparations...

So, when do they decide if they are going to cancel the swim? I hope that is not the case, but what can you do?

Again, Buck, thanks for all of your help.

They will decide the morning of. I'm hoping the drizzle will let up soon to better our chances. If it gets heavier, some of you water fearing folks may luck up and we'll have a duathlon.

I agree, I want the swim to go on too. But it is gross when you go to the beach and there are signs that warn of contaminated water.

The water is not contaminated. If there is a heavy downfall tomorrow, the runoff from the streets and shores may wash in the water. This could effect the water quality. As of now, we have only had a light drizzle. I think we're going to be OK...

I will be dropping my bike off at transition tomorrow evening. I will confirm we are a go for the swim. I'm sure it will be fine. Here is an article explaining what high water quality we have.

Sorry not to sound so dramatic. When it rains in San Diego, all of the sewer run-off heads toward the ocean. There are big pipes that are the outlets. People still swim even though the lifeguards advise against it.

You can rest after the race bro... Don't waste the $$$, even if you do it at a casual pace, "You Can Do It!"

I just heard from KOZ, they said unless it pours tomorrow, the swim is still on...

YES!!!

So, don't stress about it...

Remember, tonight you're going to get a good night's rest.

BTW, tonight the Tri' Club San Diego's La Jolla Cove potluck. If you have a chance, please come down. You don't even need to be a member.

Im thinking about riding the bike course tomorrow early in the a.m.

The transition area will be open between 12:00 and 5:00 if you want to do a late ride you can get your spot when you are done. That way, you won't have to lug that thing all over town.

I'm glad you made it.

Don't be scared, Mixie -- you trained for it, you're ready.  I've seen you on that bike, just keep pedaling over the overpass and you'll be fine.

Hey, do you know if the roads are closed to traffic? That part on Ingram road looks busy, tho I didn't ride that part. Just drove it. Im such a wuss, that bridge overpass is steep for me. Im terrified

The bike is a closed course. They move all the traffic to the other side of the median. The hill is like 5% of the whole race. Just work your gears and you will be fine.

Don't spend your time in the race worrying, just try and relax into it and you'll find your pace that works for you. You're going to do great, and when you cross that finish line... You'll be a new woman.

Get some sleep, we'll see you in the morning.
