OK people...I hate to say it, but I am out!  Not going to be able to come down for the race.  Looking at my race sked and the time off needed to go to each one, I was just taking too much time off from work.  So one of the races had to go.  Memphis in May, got family in that area...nope!   Buffalo Springs lake HIM, again family and I NEED this race....nope, not this one either.  So guess which one lost out...yep!  St. Anthony's had to go unfortunately.  I hate it, as it is going to be a blast and all the BTer's that are going to be there as well.  Gonna be fun, but I just can't take that much time off of work.  Please drink one for me!!!!

I dropped off me ex's road bike (now MY road bike) to be refitted and tuned at a bike shop in St. Pete (Florida Bicycle Sports, came with great recommendation) which is located in the midst of the St. A's venue. I will be picking up said bike this Saturday and taking it for a test drive around the area. Thought I'd drive the whole bike and running course and report back. Anything in particular that anyone would like feedback on? Also the guys in the shop will be at St. A's - is there anything I can ask them on your behalf?

Did everyone get their confirmation to St. A this morning? Can't believe it's only a month away. So, what's the status of the party?? Are we all meeting somwhere on Saturday night? I'm planning on getting there early on Saturday to drop off my bike, go check out the expo, yadda, yadda. I'm so excited!!!

Hey Sharon, glad to hear the kids are coming, looking forward to seeing you guys. Things are heating up around here. The pool at Herdad's work is heavily in favor of Herdaughter(all the votes!). My husband has been getting up early before work and riding the trainer and running the poor beagle into the ground at night. My daughter is just starting to feel good after a nasty bout with the flu, so she should be in pretty good form by the Meek & Mighty. We are staying over Saturday and volunteering for the race on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing everyone, hope the party is a family friendly affair!

Got mine this morning... buddy and I were "scouting" the swim... You start off on the beach and swim parallel (on the right side of pier in the picture) of the pier and then head towards the "grassy knoll" on the far right

Anyone interested in a group swim on Saturday morning?

Can't wait!

Group swim sounds great. My fever finally broke and I have resumed training. Hoping to be able to run the full 10K but not looking great. This is my first tri and I am getting really excited.

Those of you doing Saint A's with TNT, keep the following in mind.

1. We have group swim Saturday morning.

2. We have the TNT pasta party Saurday night.

3. Victory party Sunday night.

So it will be hard to get away for any BT parties going on at those times.  I was hoping maybe there would be a get together Saturday afternoon during the expo and or bike check in, or Friday night at the Saint A's welcome party.

I can't wait to see people!

Thanks for the TNT info Polly.

We are planning an official BT get together on Friday night.   I know there are several doing the Meek and Mighty on Saturday, so I'd like to get a group together to support the BTer's in that race.  Sunday night will likely be a whatever you feel like kinda thing.  We'll plan a get together site and those who want to (and can still move) are welcome.

Of course, Sunday night I will still be racking the bike and just beginning the run phase, so ya'll feel free to start without me!!

More details to come soon!!  30 days and counting.......UGH!!!!!!!

I agree with Wendi, lets do a Friday night social to meet and greet, then a Sunday night blow out to really celebrate the finish of our first race of the season.  I think we should try, first, to get a headcount of who will be there Friday and who will be around on Sunday.

The Friday night Athlete's Welcome Reception is in the Vinoy Park.  We should pick a place to meet, or if possible, put up some kind of cabana as a gathering spot.

Depending on the number of folks hanging around Sunday night, we should probably just pick a local dive over on the beach that serves ice cold beer and good seafood.

I'll start a "Poll" as a separate thread here under "Who's Racing" to get headcounts.

Looking forward to seeing all of you there!

As many people who have discussed the Sunday night blowout, could that start earlier than night and maybe start at 3 or 4pm for those of us who need to get home (long drives, etc.) who would like to visit as well.

Okay, we're 12 days and counting and I wanted to revisit the schedule for our time down in St. Pete.  Here's the high points:

Friday:  Packet Pickup/Sports Expo is from Noon-7pm at the Vinoy Park.  There's a welcome reception for the athletes going from 6-9pm.  We hope to have a tent or cabana set up nearby as a meeting place for the BT'rs.  Ron has graciously put together a big BT Banner for us, so look  for it outside of the reception.

Saturday:  TnT'rs are doing their own dinner.  Wendi (G8RSAX) is putting together a pasta dinner at a local BnB.

Sunday:  Let the partying begin.  Lets meet up at the bar in the Renaissnace Vinoy Resort at 6pm.  Its located at the Vinoy Park (same location as the race) so there should be plenty of free parking.  Lets meet there, exchange our stories and experiences.  I'll buy the first drink for any BT'r that shows up.

See you there.

Is there going to be a joint effort to find a common hotel to crash at? If so where? The website mentions three hotels, which I'll bet fill up right quick.

Sorry...my 30 min edit timer ran out...

I think it would be a very cool idea to all try to find some place close where we can all spend a few nights. Maybe even make reservations before tri registration even takes place so we can be sure to all get in. If for some reason, the race fills up faster and some of us are left behind, the reservations can still be cancelled without penalty since we'll know the first week of Dec.

I'm still trying to convice wifey to partake in the festivities. She's a little unsure just because she feels she doesn't know anyone - regardless of all the good press I give my fellow BT'ers. Working on convincing her to try out the short tri that takes place the day before the Olympic. She doesn't feel comfortable about running 3 miles, but I think she can squeeze out a 1 miler, a short bike, and a pool swim. She's so worried about finishing last it drives me crazy!

the only ones who finish last are the ones too afraid to start.

LOL!  This was back in Oct - on her birthday no less!!!  She's since done an indoor tri and has finished the 16 week couch to tri program.  She's just as psyched about it now as I am.
