Finished my first Triathalon today. One mile swim, 5 mile bike and 5k run in 1:45:30. I know I need to improve, but I am so happy to have completed this first step. :-)

That is a great time for those distances, especially for your first tri ever!! I think the first mile swim I ever completed to me close to 70-80 minutes. Keep up the great work and use this as a benchmark. How was your transitions? Did they go smoothly? My first race I spent over 5 minutes in the transition area. What was the best thing that you learned from the race?

Great job! That's a pretty big swim. How was the weather for your tri? Frigid open water back east?... Brrrrrr!!

Way to go! Great job. What a great jumping off point. That sounds like a huge swim as compared to the bike and run.

Hi,
I've run races since 1995. Finished my second marathon this past Fall. I had been injured(knee) prior to my first marathon so I took to the pool. Now swimming is part of my routine. This first tri was all indoors, and there was no timing in between events, so I thought that was a good trial. I plan to do sprint tri's in the Summer which will be 1/2 mile swim in open water, 10 mile bike and 5K run. My only problem is that I own a mountain bike which will not be good for road races. Do you have any suggestions for a first tri bike.
Thanks for your input.
Evelyn
