Subject: Interactive Course Videos for Computrainer

So the new issue of Triathlete has a computrainer ad for new interactive course videos from a lot of IM's and 70.3's.

It says around December the release dates should start. I went to the website and they say they have LP and CDA done and ready to release.

How cool is this?? Riding the CDA course from 2500 miles away!!!

Can't wait for it to be released. Early Christmas present to me Cool

How is it interactive or different from the current CT versions of those courses?

If I understood the ad correctly, it's basically a CT course that you ride while watching a DVD, thus making it interactive.

Probably just real graphics compared to RaceMate's animations... still, anything to get those miles in during the winter is a good investment!!!

Is there a dvd or video of Ironman course you can get to "ride along" with if you don't have a computrainer?

from what I can understand, they rode the course in the race or the day before in some instances (some race directors did not want them on the course as the race was in progress) and they filmed it in HD. So they say the course will speed along as fast as you are going. So it will be life like so when you are climbing a hill on the screen you will be feeling the resistance on the CT.

Man that is absolutely on my Christmas list. I do 95% of my riding on the CT, so this will ne a nice change from metalman. I wonder if you can still see the spinscan in the split screen view though... that would be important.

I have the Spinerval DVD of the Lake Placid course.  If you buy it, don't expect too much.  Watching someone ride a bike at 18 mph is not high on the excitement or motivation scale, for me at least.  It's an OK video, but the feeling is just not there.  Even when he's going down the steep hill into Keene, you don't get the sensation that it's much different than when he's riding on the flats into Jay.  Honestly, if you buy this thinking that you'll get a good perspective of the LP course, I think you'll be disappointed.  I get much more motivation watching old Kona videos or Euro bike racing DVDs.

I wonder how it will match with the excellent ErgVideo products?

Now that's a CT workout my friends...

racermate.com has a preview video

one thing I find funny is the courses that they were on during the race you go through the aid stations and see all the volenteers and spectators on the side of the road.

In a real anal way I guess you could practice nutrition by drinking and eating when on the video you see an aid station. That might be a  little much though

I was thinking the same thing... as I sat at my computer mapping out the run course for Buffalo Springs so I can measure the hills and set up a simulated course on the treadmill...
