Booyah
August 7
9PM Spent the day with my family, at Six Flags. Feels like I ran a marathon. I'm glad SF cleaned up their park. The last time I went, it was GHETTO. It feels like a family park again.

5 minute T2
9PM I have sunburn "tramp stamp" from the ride today...LOL
3PM Big, fat FAIL. It was too hot. 97 degrees and very humid. Didn't have Garmin and taking in nutrition was a crapshoot. Had some cramps during the run shuffle, but nothing significant.
I knew it was too hot when by the 30 mile mark I had already taken in 3 bottles of water. Felt as though I was baking as the heat came off the asphalt. No way to avoid that. Cooled down outside under the waterhose...again.
Back was knotted up and that may have played a factor. That's what I get for chopping wood. Will probably be paying a visit to the doctor again, probably early next week.
Cut the ride from 100 to 80 b/c it was Chey's first day of school. We took her up there as a family. Otherwise, I would have started at 7AM.

Stationary Bike - Intervals
12PM This was a hard workout...no, really. I jacked up the resistance and powered up the "hills" as hard as I could, while recoverying on the "descents". Legs were screaming.
A SHOUT OUT to Garmin! I called them b/c my Forerunner crapped out, and they're going to replace it...under warranty...even though I've had it past the warranty period! Customer for life....
8AM Planning on riding during lunch. Have a strong weekend planned...I'm taking the day off tomorrow to do a long brick, then doing a long run on Saturday morning. It's going to be hot!
7AM Kind of bummed today. There was a sliver of hope that I would not be deploying b/c of a recent directive that reduced our unit strength. The reduction was fairly significant (almost 40%). Well, it turns out that the soldiers that had "issues" (dental, any medical, any administrative, etc.) were rewarded and taken off the list. Once again, soldiers like me that were squared away and up to date were the ones chosen to go. This happened on my first deployment, and it's happening again on this deployment. Some of the other soldiers have not even been deployed. Crock of shit.
Anyways, it is what it is. Our Armed Forces are a volunteer force. I volunteered to serve this awesome country, so that's all the bitching I'll be doing about that.

Stationary Bike - Hill Intervals
9PM Garmin has officially crapped out. Damn.
8PM Spent an hour chopping wood. I bet I'll feel it tomorrow. The wood (hardwoods) was kind of wet and hard to split. Have lots of wood to chop before deploying. Time to get on it yesterday.
12PM Sweatfest during lunch. Still sweating now.
7AM Membership to BT expired...not sure if I'm going to renew. Renewed Bronze.
Slept in today. Plan on riding (gym) during lunch.

1000m Easy to Moderate
Temp: Low 80s and Humid
Nutrition: flask with Hammer Gel
Endurance is a jealous bitch...Stray and she will smack you down.
1PM Slight discomfort in my right arch, but it seems that they're getting better. Maybe it is b/c of the new running shoes?
12PM Easy to moderate swim. Cut it short b/c the lifeguard had shut down a lane to clean the pool. The vacuum hose kept drifting into my lane.
7AM Good run today. Took a flask of gel and hit it every 3 miles. Garmin was dead, so time is a guestimate. It felt as though I ran faster than that, but I used two different clocks, so who knows.

Drills
Speedwork
12PM Speedwork for lunch. Yummy.
10AM Just noticed how low my HR was for Saturday's ride. It was almost 10-15 bpm (average) lower than all my other long rides (June - Present). Suprising given the heat.
8AM Worked on drills this morning.
Once I got to the gym, realized I forgot my running shoes, so will hit the pool again during lunch.
Planning another strong week. Goal is to hit 900+ mins. Looking for a long run tomorrow or wednesday, and a monster brick this weekend. This time, I will be ready to run in 100 degree weather.
