2013: They call me "HILDEBEAST"....

July 17

Nothing... plan was to finish painting, but had to break to drive to Ft. Hood to get a new i.d. card and get the truck damage appraised... got home late afternoon, I let Ron finish up what he had to do in the kitchen, Kati needed a ride to day care to pick up the varmints, really didn't get much done.

ARGH... plan was to get up fairly early and get a short run in... woke up past 8 and it's getting hotter by the minute.  TONS of work to do today while  hubby is at work, mainly painting, but the days are running out, so this will probably be another one of those work my ass off "rest" days.  We've decided we cannot be without the truck this week, at least till after Waco, so we'll just wait to turn it in for repair till everyone is gone.  We have stuff we have to haul out of the house to the storage shed, and a couple of beds to pick up to bring in, plus we need the option of hauling 5 people.  Time for one more cup of Joe, gonna check logs and then it's work time!

Nice early morning ride! Wanted to get it done and out of the way... stopped twice to make saddle adjustments. Felt like I was riding just a bit low, so raised it up, rode about 3 miles and could feel my hips rocking just a bit. Stopped again and split the difference and think I've found the sweet spot! Got my average speed back where it was. A couple more rides this week, and I'll be ready to conquer that Waco course!

So today is hubby's last day off before the Waco gang arrives, and he's madly trying to get some stuff done.  We took a Lowe's/Home Depot run, and wouldn't you know, had a car accident!  An old guy made a right turn on red as we were turning left, he pulled across 3 empty lanes and hit us in the 4th lane!  He was super nice, but still.... ugh.  Had to wait for an accident report and it took awhile for the cops to arrive.  No one hurt, his truck is still driveable, but will have to go in for repairs this week and we HOPE it is back by next weekend since my car will only hold 4 people and we're looking to be driving 5 of us.  In any case, back home and ready to get to work... 1:30 and all I've done is a bike ride!

OWS with the hubs, who did NOT like it and breast stroked about 15 yards and turned around and got out. So that's all I got...

So I know it looks like a pretty lame week training wise, but if I was logging all the crap I'm doing around the house, it would be right up there!  Yesterday I hauled I don't know how many buckets of hot water up the stairs for the carpet cleaner (our upstairs tub faucet has limed the button permanently shut that allows the water to go from the tub to the shower, so it's kinda hard to fill a bucket when the water is coming out of the showerhead), our bedroom is about 800 square feet (I KNOW, can you believe that??  It's the entire second floor of our house), and I did the entire carpet twice.  It sure looks nice now!  Inbetween I had to go get more cleaning solution... and since I had the machine for 24 hours, hubby decided I should do two of our area rugs too, so had to drag them outside since I didn't want to take a chance of the hardwood floors underneath getting wet.  Also did a bunch of touch up paint, did a few small repairs that included wood putty and sanding, and then painting.  I am just such a handy girl!!

Today, hubby is supposed to make up his mind if he is going to do Waco or not.  He's had a beast of a week at work and hasn't trained at all, so we are going out to the lake to see if he thinks he can manage the swim.  I really want him to do it, because he is famous for impulsively signing up and then bagging.  Then again, if he DOESN'T do it, he'll stay home and make some fabulous Texas BBQ for our triumphant return from the race....  later today I am treating him to some shopping at the bike store, so I think we are heading down to Austin for lunch and shopping.  Hoping to pick him up some Speedplay pedals which I tried to talk him into when we bought his bike, but nooooooo, he opted for the Shimano SL's which he now doesn't like for the same reason I ditched them.  And possibly a tri top for him, I'm TRYING to take care of him so he doesn't look like a freakin' wierdo out there on the race course, if it was up to him he'd be wearing baggy cotton shorts and a Tshirt!

Ugh, another souplike day out there. Long and slow. Ran into a girl I know in my neighborhood that tris and we ran for a bit together... I was actually able to hold a conversation, that's a first!
-----

Got my training done for the day, then a day of errands.  First off a dr. appt at 9:30, then I have to go sit in the pharmacy for prescriptions, go to the PX to pick up Ron a refill on his prescription.... all at Ft. Hood which is a half hour away.  Hopefully I won't be stuck down there till mid-afternoon so I can come back and get some stuff done.  They lifted the water boil notice late yesterday, yay!!
