Cha ching. I've been flirting with 20+ on this route for the last few rides. Finally broke through the barrier. I think this is my first ever solo ride north of 20 mph of any substantive distance, though I'm not sure of that.
Cold morning, 47 when I left. Had to break out the leg warmers and gloves. July? Hellooo?

Rare weekend workout. Blew out some of yesterday's frustration, felt AWESOME. In terms of this run, I was motivated by a nice 10+-miler that bikingbruise threw down, so wanted to see if I could be controlled, yet faster. Sorta worked, sorta didn't...I wasn't feeling particularly good at any point, but throughout the numbers stayed strong. Feel better about everything now. Sorry for the mini-rant.

Here comes the excuse-o-meter, but this is REAL, da#mit. Almost at the closing bell yesterday our mainframe went down. No biggie, go to re-start it. Zippo. Zilch. Nada. Had to go to my son's baseball game so did that until 7:30, then back to work to fock with it until like midnight. Not asleep until 2 or so. FLUCK! Good news is the backup system drives I had created (not backups on tape, etc., actual duplicate system disk drive) worked well as opposed to restoring from another media. With this old equipment, I decided recently to just have actual backup drives ready. Made it fairly fast and easy, but as any of you in IT know, in a crunch time accelerates geometrically. BTW, I am not in IT, just the guy that knows this crap better than anyone else. I'm too cheap to have an actual IT person.
This week and month are now a collossal failure training-wise. July and August are gonna have to be epic, and with a week up north and other shat happening, it's gonna be tough. Our summer schedule really makes me question the ability to do an IM, unless I work the bike and swim and decide to just finish the run portion through sheer survival. Anyway, I'm a-tired and I'm rambling, so I'll stop here for now.
Have a GREAT WEEKEND everyone. Happy 32nd to PeterAK.

Lake Beulah Route, includes about 5-min rolling around to see if jszat was coming at that time. We played phone tag and didn't have a firm plan in place.
A couple of big hills early worked the vacation outta my legs and I felt strong thoughout this ride. Very happy with my biking right now.
At about 25-30, on the way in, I did run across jszat and triingforsept out on the route. They were cool enough to double back and head back in with me. At Donkey pass, jszat offered the opportunity to go see the donkey. I was ohh so close, though it was late and I had no water. One more "c'mon" outta him and I'd have done it, I'm sure. In the end I'm glad I didn't as I got home just in time to get rolling, and was uber-thirsty.
BTW, jszat was rolling a sweet HED tri-spoke front wheel along with his disc cover on the back. His ride was pimped, lemme tell ya. Lokkin' schuweeet.
My quest for profile aerobottle or podiumquest continues. I wanted the LBS to put some vision bars on my bike while I was gone. (note: It is official, my syntace bars will NOT accept either bottle system). They didn't becuase of a simple question, nor did they call me. FOCK. So, I picked up the bike and I'll give it further thought. It's tough to spend money sometimes...these guys keep trying and trying to talk me out of it for some reason.

Wanted to run faster and pretty much came in the way I wanted. Of course, I wish it was FASTER but overall not bad. First half felt good, second half had to manage the suffering a bit, but overall feel good.
