Kiss for luck for the dumpster. He was #10 and I was #235 and we started in number order. So he was off long before I was!
That's Schmize on the L, Chris on the R and our pal Trudy with the yellow shirt. She's the RD.
And all of us after the race. I am going to burn my horrible unflattering outfit now. kthxbai.

Chris has the Garmin file. This was leisurely. Rode S on the path down toward Aurora, and then turned around and stopped for Ice Coffee. Then rode home. Path = so damn slow. :(
So Chris and I decided we'd test out the St. Charles "city" pool. It's a very nice facility. And it's great for swimming outside. Everyone wants to swim during lap swim, though, so we got relegated to the deep end without lane lines. Better than swimming inside any day of the week, though, that's fo shizzle.

Whitney is in town! I took the day off of work to meet her and her sister for lunch and... whatever else. Also decided I'd hang out at the pool for a bit and see about getting a little bit of sun. Midway through June and I have no hit of a suntan. It's a crime.

Exactly my T-pace. Creepy.
I was reading my watch backwards. I thought my bike was my run and my run was my bike time. Honestly, I was a little disappointed with a 49 min bike, so this makes me feel better. I was also a little bit amazed with a 48:01 run, so this makes a lot more sense. 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other, but this makes much more sense.
Still. Blazing saddles. Whhhoooooo Hoooooo!
4:05 AM: Up before the sun to head off to the LITH Triathlon! Who knows how this will go today. I have been doing some swimming, I've been biking a bit, and my run last weekend went better than I thought it would, so... I'm infused with confidence. Hah. We're off. See you on the flipside.
1:36 PM: Well, that went better than expected. I was just a couple of seconds off my PR of 1:53:09. Today I did a 1:53:51, at least according to my watch. For the first time... ever... I hit each of my splits on time and at the mat. So, I'm happy about that. Swim felt sloggy and slow, but in comparison to my other swim times @ LITH, it was fast. (Strange!) Bike felt about exactly how it was. Was aiming for 48-50 and came in on the low end of that, so I'm happy. Last year I intentionally over cooked the bike because I wasn't planning to run much. This year I overcooked the bike just a tiny tiny bit... (think crispy around the edges) and didn't know what I'd be able to do on the run, but I ran better than I thought I would. Did roughly a 1:1 run/walk and it worked out charmingly. Pretty much an exact 12/min mile, which, for me, is freakishly fast. (12:21 min/mile which is still on the fast side for me) Hah. So, in the 4x I've done this race, this is my second best showing, almost on a par with the first time I raced, when I was in the midst of Ironman training, 2009.
This leads me to the conclusion that I can train a lot, or I can train a little, or I can train almost not at all... and the results are mostly the same.
I should add that this was 2 minutes faster than 2011, during training for IM #2, and 7 minutes faster than last year, during the lazy-phase.
Here's the crew: L-R, Goggs (everyone's favorite douchebag), Monica, dumpster and myself.
And...
Here's a delightful photo of me, prancing toward the finish while a much more serious athlete prepares to snipe me 6 inches before the line. You will notice her number... 46. We started in number order, 2x2, so even with all my prancing, I may have still beaten her. Doesn't matter anyway, as she wasn't in my age group!
Prance on, people! Prance on!

Happy Hour with the girlz last night @ Carlucci.
Me and my fancy-ass aviators. You love them. You know you do. Plus, mah girlz Kathy and Dara.
Now, this is what happens when we asked a stranger to take our photo:
And this:
5:44 PM: Racing again tomorrow. Monica and Tony will be here any moment. Yay!
Went out to dinner with Monica and Tony to a place called Open Range. Had a BBQ brisket. We decided we'd splurge and have dessert, so Chris and Monica and I ordered beignets, and Tony had a chocolate lava cake. I haven't been that stuffed full of FOOD in... a long time. I am not sure what compelled us to eat that much, but I doubt I will need breakfast in the morning. Holycrap.

Holy Crap. Today was a disaster. I had a hard time performing the moves he wanted me to do... I think he thinks I'm more coordinated and strong than I actually am.
Again, hands shaking. I went to Subway after my workout and my hands were shaking so much that it was hard for me to handle my money. Hanging pull ups, etc etc... hands really get a workout.
We did one thing that was supposed to be a stability ball bounce-back pushup... we did it at the end of the session and it felt (and probably looked) like a wounded walrus impersonation. Including life like vocalizations (by me) Hah. Dear God.
For the record, I say the Lord's name more while I'm working out with Ronsky than anyone EVER does while they're in Church. This I know for certain.
6:50 AM: Thanks to my husband for noticing my finger is on the trigger of that gun from yesterday's photo flipper. Jesus. I am totally unqualified to wield a fire arm. That much should be obvious.
One of my goals for 2013 is to cut down on buying stuff. However, I was compelled to purchase the absolute cutest pair of aviators yesterday. Of course, I couldn't get out of the damn store without taking advantage of the "BUY A FULL PRICED ITEM AND GET A SALE ITEM HALF OFF!" deal, so I also bought a pair of big black movie star sunglasses. My eyes will be adequately protected from the sun for at least a couple of years. The last time I bought sunglasses unrelated to cycling was in 2009 or so. It's been a while. Back then I got myself a pair of Oakleys and pair of RayBans. They've both been used and abused and the lenses are so scratched that I actually see better when I'm not wearing them. And staring into the sun. Hah.
Anyway, these are the big black ones:
I'll take a photo of the aviators later.
They're both Oakleys. They're both wonderful.
I got the black ones for $39! The aviators? Let's not discuss that.
This makes me laugh. LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!
I can't stop laughing. WTF is wrong with me?
June 13
10:28 AM: Ronsky canceled for today. He cancels a lot, but I am usually able to get 2 good sessions out of him a week. I realize he has slew of clients to juggle as well as a wife that is super high risk pregnant, so... I don't let it bother me. He's doing the best he can. It's just difficult sometimes to plan my day. Whatevs. He's a great trainer so I let it slide.
3:05 PM: Apparently Facebook has an "OTHER" mailbox that collects messages from miscellaneous people. I was not aware this mailbox existed. I had 4 messages in there; 1 from a friend, and 3 from random creepy men. They were all over a year old!
2 of the randoms provided skeevy compliments on my smile.
1 of the randoms apparently took offense to a comment I made in regard to grammar on someone's page:
"something wrong Lori?.......discount content for sake grammar and spelling??? Can you spell heroes? How about "azzwholes" and tangent idiots (a.k.a. Lora). D0n't attempt to divert topic away with me. You're cute, but "skrew off.: Spell check that."
Such hostility! Seriously. Ewwww.
Photo Flipper:
A girl with a gun. By the way my wrist is sagging there, you can tell that this is way more weapon than I was prepared to be handling. This photo was taken on vacation with Amy (from the triathlon and menstrual pad photos below) in Miami in 1993. It rained from start to finish the entire time we were there. That weather was not conducive to sunning and tanning, so we ended up doing lots of strange indoor activities.
Amy got a tattoo, we went to a gun range, we saw CLIFFHANGER, we rented sail boards in the rain, we shopped at a mall, and we went out to bars. I did not return to Illinois with a tan after my indoor Miami vacation. *sigh*

My friends

Processing your request, please wait...
I was a little bit late. Today was tough, nevertheless. Instead of doing 3x reps, we did 2x reps with heavier weights, and Ronsky was kind of mean about it. He told me to "STOP SLACKING!" but I honestly was not slacking. We went heavier on everything today and I was just having a HARD TIME. Yeeeow.
Core. Shoulders. Arms. Core. More core, and then some more shoulders arms and back.
Sweaty. Hard. Tough. Tough. Tough. Swimming tonight. I wonder how the arms will like that.
Whitney stopped by to see the new house. We took a photo in with the landscaping and foliage.
Chris suggested we try kneeling...
"Kneel by the landscaping" he said. "It will be fun" he said.
I managed to eventually get into a semi crouching position without looking too uncomfortable. I did have mulch stuck to my knees, though. How I wish my ROM was just a little bit better in both knees. It would make things like posing amongst the foliage that much easier and more graceful, not to mention getting into and out of low profile cars and chairs and stuff like that.
Getting up again was a disaster
BE KIND TO YOUR KNEES.
YOU'LL MISS THEM WHEN THEY'RE GONE.
