August 27

Rained all night!  Didn't plan on doing anything today anyway; but, would have been inside if I did.  We've REALLY needed this rain.  It's great.

Long Run - Tomorrow going to plan on 12.

August 26

More thunderstorms last night and it was pouring this morning!  Want to get a hard tempo run in today.  I am so far behind on getting ready for tomorrow its embaressing.  If I work hard and get everything done by 4:00 I'll reward myself with a good run home from church.

Unplanned rest day...thunderstorms rolled through last night.  Felt good to sleep in :-)

Hebrew Class....while sitting in class I imagined a scene centuries ago, no millenia, where a scribe is sitting at a cedar table, quill in hand, faithfully copying the Scriptures.  When he gets to the word used for the "divine name" he discards his quill for a new one.  He writes the "divine name" with this new quill because it is so holy that it deserves a fresh tool and ink.  Perhaps, when done, he utters a silent praise to God and continues his work.

Easy swim and run today. Haven't been in the water for a week...felt good to swim. I've really been focusing on my run cadence and stride. Think it's helped.

Went from the swim straight into the run.

Track work...mile repeats.

Mile Repeats
1 - 7:22
2 - 7:56
3 - 7:56
c/d - .5 mile

Kind of a long recovery walk/jog between repeats (5 minutes). Included the time for recovery but not the distance.

Hebrew...started my first Hebrew class today.  Looks pretty interesting.  I loved my Greek classes and think this will probably end up the same way.  Not sure what all this language study will lead to.  For now it will help me with my current ministry....maybe in the future doing translation work through Wycliffe.

Had one of my Adult teachers pass away last night.  What a great servant of the Lord.  When asked by hospice worker what he wanted to be remembered by, he said "That I always gave everything I did 100%."  And he sure lived by that.  He served as a trustee, teacher, AARP Tax preparer and trainer, and kitchen ministry director.  Plus he served in many miscellaneous capacities at our church....building cabinets, cooking at youth camp and other functions, helping with our budget, counting money.  He was truly a "choice servant" and will be missed.

Quick ride over lunch. The mph is not too impressive because of the residential loop I rode. But it was a good workout.

The legs are feelin' yesterday's run.

Plan on a light day today.  Bike and maybe a swim over lunch.

Now that the kids are in school, I'll be able to get some more workouts in over lunch.  This summer I'd check on them at home over lunch since my wife was working 3 days per week.

Tried to work on my cadence today.  I'm around 80 and should be at 90.  Not sure how to improve that.  When I increase it I feel like I'm taking a bunch of baby steps.   Guess it's time to do some reading.

On my run today I just tried to be smooth and run at a comfortable pace.  Knocked 5 minutes off my time for this route.
