recovery run? (hellva lot better than 'recovery' ride.)

In a bit of a panic about my bike fitness. If I want to hit my goals for this summer, I have a lot of work to do. I have not completely recovered from the disappointment of last season. (total focus on bike in off season and then sub-par results) Every ride I have, I need to push myself out the door. I have not had a single ride where I was close to being satisfied with results. right now I have zero confidence that I am capable of improving it in the next 6 weeks. I will keep trying and try to break out of this. However, today I run and swim.

Hot Damn! Well my goal for my 20 miler race was 3 hours.  I guess I'll have to come up with a new goal. :)  Actually will probably keep same goal because conditions were just about perfect for this. Cool temps (low 50's & overcast) and pretty flat route (Glacier trail out past Dousman & back) I suspect neither of those things will be the case on race day. Also had wind to my back on whole way out and this allowed to start at good pace at lower HR. Still very pleased. Didn't really have to go into pain cave until about mile 18. Modified nutrition (alternating gel and shot boks every 35 minutes) and stomach was much better behaved. Last couples miles wern't fun as wind was really blowing in my face, it was raining and hilly. I took a couple of Ginger snap cookies and bribed myself that I could have one if I ran all the way up a particularily challenging hill on mile 19. Post run drank chocolate milk, stretched and took an ice bath because that worked well in the past. Now I'm going to try and wipe the smile off my face...

Form really falls apart on long stuff. Need longer distances for endurance, but probably no good for muscle memory of correct form.

Well looking at the weekend forcast doesn't give me warm fuzzies. Gonna work extra hard this morning so I can try to get done with work early and do tommorrow's long ride today before it rains. As for Sunday's planned long run (19 miles!) I guess I'm just going to get wet.

Hill repeats. Not exactly what I would do in a perfect world, but got to work with what I got near by. Pretty satisfactory effort.  Bike planned, but honestly pretty iffy it will happen. Also some core work (more likely to happen)
