It's not the jeans...

The following equipment is nearing replacement:

Bike
  • 1h 02m
  • 15.37 miles
  • 14.87 Mi/hr

Riding for fun, what a concept. Great ride, beautiful day, sun shining, tailwind all the way home...what's not to like?

Swim
  • 30m
  • 1500.00 yards
  • 02m /100 yards

OWS in Lake CdA. I wasn't quite as motivated as I have been in the last weeks to swim hard or long, but it was a nice relaxing swim. Felt good to be back in the water, but just as good to get out and stop at Starbuck's for a very-welcome coffee on the way home. Home by 8am - how nice!

June 26

Run
  • 25m
  • 2.30 miles
  • 10m 52s /Mi

Short easy run - felt surprisingly good.

June 25

Bike
  • 44m
  • 8.62 miles
  • 11.75 Mi/hr

Mtb ride to lunch with friends. I wonder how much more weight I was carrying AFTER lunch when I rode back up the hill? Hmmm... Felt good to be on the bike, though.

My heartbeat is doing that weird thing again where it feels like it's skipping beats.  Nothing to worry about, it's been tested extensively, but it sure feels weird.  I'm glad I've had it tested or I would be afraid right now.  As it is, it's just an annoyance.  Ugh.

I was a bit sore on Monday, less sore yesterday, and while I can still feel a little soreness today I'm feeling pretty darn good.  The worst thing is going to the bathroom - not the actual going, but my quads hurt during the sitting down and standing up part.

I don't think I'm ready to run anywhere, but I could swim or bike or walk today.  I need to decide what to do next.  I'm not feeling as burned out as I had been - more like I want to get some activity in.  Yay!

Thanks again to everyone for the nice notes and thoughts!

RR is up.

June 22

Wow, what an amazing day yesterday!  I had a great time!  My finish line catcher asked what was my least favorite part of the day and I couldn't think of a thing!  Looking back now, the weather kind of sucked, but that just made the finish sweeter.

I'll need to spend some time on my RR.

The swim was just fine - wavy but fine.  I seeded myself a long way to the right and waited to go in near the last, then tried to swim straight to the corner buoy, then swam wide around the turns.  I had clear water most of the time and while I swam farther by doing that the clear water was well worth it.

The bike was windy, and it just kept getting windier.  The only down time I had all day was during the second loop of the bike.  My legs were getting fatigued and I still had about 2 and a half hours to ride.  I just remembered one of the things I read on here... "no matter how you feel, don't worry because you'll feel different soon."  Yup.  I didn't feel like I was pushing too hard and tried to keep my HR down, but I was much more fatigued and just overall tired after this ride than after any of our training rides.  Not sure what the difference would be, but I was pooped.  I never hated my bike but I was ready to get off by the end.

The run went amazingly well after all that.  I ran some of every mile, and only walked the aid stations until about 23 miles.  At that point I walked more than I ran, but I did run down the chute.  Everyone was right, you really DO feel great for that two blocks!  Nothing hurt and I ran down slapping hands all over the place with a big ol' grin on my face.

And yes, I was still smiling 20 minutes later, and I'm still smiling today.  Mission accomplshed!

Thanks for hanging with me through all this!
