Sporadic moments of focus and purpose.
December 5
December 4
Took my first resting HR in months today. I thought it would be somewhere around 60-70. It was 49, not too bad considering how out of shape I'm in.
Run: OH, boy. OK, The plan:
Run 6 miles then swing by the house, fill up my water bottle with Gatorade and CarboPro and grab a gel. Tell Happycow how I feel and what my next loop would be.
Reality:
The first 6 miles were uneventful. I went by the house and did everything I planned to do. I told Happy that I felt good and would run another 6 miles. The first mile felt good, I charged up the hill trying to catch a cyclist that was moving slower than me. I didn't catch him and at mile 8 I was tired but still felt good. I turned and ran 1 mile downhill. At mile 9 it struck me all at once...I had just matched my longest run in a while, I am as far away from my house as I get, no matter which way I go I still have 3 miles left AND I am neck deep in poop. In crimelab terms I was "Circling the drain" :). I took the gel and eventually it kicked in. I managed to make it back to my house. I cut it a little short because someone suggested that I actually warm up and cool off after my runs, so I did.

Today I look on weather.com, it says parlty cloudy. I look outside and it looks good out. I get dressed then go out to get my bike and ...it rained in that short of time. :( Now if this were January, I would ride rain or shine, but I don't wanna now. I drove to the gym for the 8 am spin class. I look at the schedule and it starts at 9. So I lift weights for about 30 min, then decide to get my spin bike ready. I go in the room and they are already starting. I guess the December schedule doesn't start until Mon. So, I change my clothes and hustle into class before they start the hard stuff. Today's class was a kick in the nuts. The instructor thought that she was having a bad day until I told her this was the hardest class yet. That made her feel better, but she still didn't take it easy on us after that.
After class the spin instructor was teaching the Pilates (sp) class, so again I hustle down, shower and change into more appropriate yoga type clothes. I have never taken a pilates class and thought it was just some stretching. Good Gawd, that class was hard. My abs are killing me. I felt so stupid shaking while trying to hold some of these poses. I would love to take it again and she said it would really help my core, I just don't know when I can squeeze it in.

Run:
Same run as Tuesday...just faster. I still didn't feel great when I started but for some reason I was moving faster than I did the other day. When I got to the turn around I felt good, but my time was pretty close to what it was Tues. (15:43) I turned and did short intervals on the way back. (12:11)

Spin Class
Run: I will run today. I will not got to lunch with the girls...no lunch, must run...no lunch, must run
OK, I went on the run. I had a screaming headache starting about 10 min before the run. I was going to skip it, but the girls already left for lunch. I tried running with my headphones but the noise was making my head throb. By the turn around my head felt better, but I just continued to cruise along. I'm glad I went on the run even though it wasn't fast
Swim:
- 200 swim
- 200 swim with fins
- 100 kick
With Happycow
- 100 swim (easy)
- Timed 100 swim (1:20) Good swim for me considering how much fitness I thought I lost
Ok, this is where I would like to say That I cranked out the swim sets, but.......
the reality is Happycow and I spent the next 45 min kicking and chatting. This seems to be the only time we have to talk and I really enjoyed the quality uninterupted time we have to talk :)
Without Happycow
- 300 swim
Bike:
Spin class. I got to class early so I spent 10 min warming up.
Good class again tonight. After class the instructor thanked me again for being in her class. She said she can really feed off someone who actually cycles. She won't be able to race much next season, so she said she will live her tri season through me. Very cool.
