Finding Balance

June 8

Best part of yesterday:  Well, clearly the PR!  And I'm really glad I stuck around to see my friends finish the half.  That's always a good time.  Big congrats to Coredump and Steve1128 on their PRs too!

I had yoga on the schedule for this morning but my back is NOT happy so I called my ART doc instead.  I'm waiting for a call back and hopefully will get in today.  I think that oops! run instead of bike last week probably sent things into their current state.  I aggravated my right SI joint that aggravated my right glute that aggravated me. The doc fixed me up and I should be good to go tomorrow.

I need to sit down and figure out my day.  Haven't gotten much further than getting Little Dood to school and eating breakfast.  Oh, the RR is up too.

Best part of yesterday:  I hit the motherlode of birthday decorations yesterday.  Our house will be top to bottom Star Wars for Little Dood's birthday--including a 6'3" carboard Darth Vader cutout.  He'll be out of his mind when he sees it.

In reviewing the week of workouts, my long run the other day was actually supposed to be a bike.  Oops.  Apparently I had my head firmly planted somewhere it shouldn't have been.  Anyway, today is a swim and tomorrow I have a short bike and run.  Then up to Rockford for the night.  Eeeeeek!  How did a race creep up so quickly?

Warm up & cool down

Best part of yesterday:  Not sure to be honest.  Nothing stellar or drastic to report so I guess I'll just be happy it was a pretty mellow day.

I do love the tidying up before the cleaning lady comes.  I found my HR chest strap (clearly), my day planner,  a pair of earrings and put away the remnants of the WI trip.  Today I'll have my legs turned to jello by Coach Brett and then sneak in the swim I didn't do yesterday.  Oh, and my handlebars have new tape that is bright RED.  Should be easy to spot in transition, no?

Best part of yesterday:  Definitely the amount of cooking that went on around here.  I know it's hard to believe but I would completely recommend making your own tomato sauce.  Skip the boiling/peeling/deseeding of tomatoes though.  It all goes through the blender anyway so why bother?  Rave reviews from my band of merry men.

Today is a 45' swim and a 1:15 run.  Then my I will launch in my OCD and tidy up because tomorrow is cleaning lady day.  It's been an interesting day.  I can sum it up in two words:  tummy troubles.  Managed to get the run in by doing short loops around the area.  Didn't want to stray too far from home, you know?  I'm going to see if I can switch the swim to tomorrow.

I could use some feedback ... is this a good pre-race meal?

Best part of yesterday:  Finishing that run.  It was hard and I mostly hit pace.  My legs were sore to the touch when I started and didn't feel any better afterward.  I'm completely pleased with my pace given how I felt.

Today is a rest day, for which I am ridiculously grateful.  My legs are feeling better today.  I'm pretty much stuck at home for most of the day because our front door lockset is being replaced.  After that I have to run some quick errands.  So far, I have made homemade spaghetti sauce (from tomatoes), purged clothes and filled the car to drop stuff off at the local joint that takes stuff.  The whole tomato sauce from scratch thing is totally worth it ... delicious!
