Wow, I am so excited. This is the first longish run I have done under a 10 min pace! Thanks to Yoblondie, I am getting speedier.
Sit ups, push-ups and plank
Met Yoblondie and Speedy Susan for a 5 am run. It was HUMID, not too hot, but the air was so thick! We ran in the TCU neighborhood so had some rolling hills throughout. I felt great! I was trying to concentrate on my cadence and on leading with my chest. My leg started tingling during the run and was very stiff afterwards but I did some stretches and that seems to help. The cobra stretch really helps. I am excited to be getting faster!

Just found out that my 76 year old dad is considering doing the White Rock Marathon. I think he has been training for it and not telling anyone. My mom shared the info with me and he still hasn't said anything to me. I am thinking that maybe I will run it with him. I doubt we will have many opportunities to run a marathon together and I think he will try to keep about an 11- 12 min/mile pace which will be fine with me. I had thought about trying to set a goal for going faster, but I think running my first marathon with my dad would be a more memorable experience. He is the one that got me into running and I ran my first 10k in high school with him. He slowed his pace way down to run with me and then the next year I ran it again on my own. He ran it also, but much faster. Since then, he always beat my 10k times. I think I am now finally a bit faster than him, but not by much!

Well, I was pushing it to try to keep up with Yoblondie, but still couldn't keep up with her pace. I felt good about the run, but did have leg issues. Our first 4 miles were at about a 9:30 pace which is much faster than I normally go. I was also excited because I ran the last mile at a 10 min pace.
I am now officially on to the marathon training plan, but still waiting to register to see how the training goes for a few weeks. I felt really good on the run, although I didn't eat any breakfast before going. Not a good plan! However, I managed to do fine by having one gu and one pack of jelly beans on the run and didn't bonk. It helps that it was 68 degrees as opposed to 90 plus. I have been doing my stretching exercises and I really hope that helps to work out this leg thing. Now I'm off to Turner's soccer game and then on to plan for her birthday party tomorrow at our house. Lots to do!
